I was driving out of my local Publix during lunch today.  I drive past an older man, early 60's wearing a sweatshirt and a gold Navy SEAL Budweiser pin.  He was just getting out of his car when I noticed his FL personalized plate, 1SEAL.

Granted this guy likely isn't a poser, but I have met MANY authentic SEALS over the years, not one of them brags about it or wears it on his chest so everyone knows who he is wherever he goes.  I just found this guy a bit odd.

That is all.

FYI-Roy Boehm, the First Seal passed away about a week and a half ago in Punta Gorda, Fl. His book, entitled First Seal, is still available. I have a signed copy which I obtained from him at a book signing in Punta Gorda back in 2002. His wish at his death was that there was to be no memorial at all. His obit was not even published in the local paper. His wife declined to be interviewed by the press. The local paper put together an article about his passing. To this day they are still taking heat because of his request. You can probably still get the article by going to the web page of the Charlotte Sun in Port Charlotte.

We have a ex Navy seal at Delta who is a manager of ACS (bag throwers).  You would never know of his exploits except from word of mouth and the spit shine on his work boots and the perfect ironing of his uniform.

I have a copy of Roy Boehm's book autographed to me as well.  He was one of my customer's when I worked at Charlotte Couty Airport a few years ago.  He was a very quiet, likeable guy.  It was nice to know him, and as a pilot, he was a very crafty son of a gun as well.  We lost a hell of a man when he passed.
