Here's the short and sweet:

Cannot own anything made past 1986 due to a ban on MGs, anything newer, you have to be a Class III/SOT and need a Law Enforcement Demo letter.

The ones that are pre-1986 and transferrable - at least for M16s - go for about 12-13,000 dollars - sometimes more, sometimes less, depends on if the person really wants to move it.

They also have RDIAS - which is a Registered Drop In Auto Sear, and an LL - Lightning Link - those go for between 7-9,000 dollars.

Again, this is just AR related items. H&K full autos will set you back somewhat more, and on the lesser end of the spectrum, a MAC11 or Ruger AC556 are the "cheaper" ones, going for 3,500-6,000 dollars depending on model.

If you can afford it - the process is exactly the same as any other NFA item, which way more can be found out under the "Armory" section here at AR15.com, then click on "General Class III" - all the info you could ever want is in there.

Yes, I've seen that and have put some serious thought into buying it but there are two things holding me back, the price is a bit much, worth it, just tough to write the check for it, and second is the limited amount of places I have to shoot F/A firearms. I've already got a Mac and had to jump through a ton of crap just to be able to shoot it at my local range.

Yes, if I want to wait until a specific day and make a 150 mile round trip. I like my local range, except for the restrictions on full autos and the little "containment range".
