We are thinking of buying a new house on a little bit of property.  My question is, are there specific ordinances that govern how much land you have to have to shoot on.  The property is 7 acres and in unincorporated middleburg in clay county.  There is preserve behind and none of the roads leading to area are paved (don't know if that matters).  The property is zoned residential and argriculture.  If anyone knows I would greatly appreciate any info.  I called clay county SO and they said they had no idea.  Thanks guys.

I looked over the statutes and cannot discern an ansewer.  It seems to state that it overrides local ord., but if I started to plink away in my backyard now it would not be long before the JSO showed up in a not so good mood.

Wording is very important these days. You are not shooting; do not use the word range. You are controlling varmints perhaps.

In my limited understanding of it, you can shoot on your own property as long as all the projectiles stay on your property, and you're not violating any noise ordinances.  There's a lot more to it than that, but that's in in a nutshell.  Expect plenty of visits from the cops, if you decide to shoot in an area where lots of people can hear you.
