Here are some pics from the Vehicle Combatives course that we did at FOP St. Augustine on Saturday ...

The course started with a brief lecture before moving into various shooting positions from within the vehicle and then some empty hand considerations as depicted in the following pictures ...

I gotta ask how the windshield affected the rounds as they went through it.  Were you able to hit the targets as aimed?

The Windshield-O'-Truth looks interesting. I have shot through windows into a car but not from inside.

I have to say, this course was not only a lot of fun but I feel like I can hold my ground if someone were to try to jack me out of my car. Someone tries that they are getting my thumb two knucles deep inside thier eye socket.

Not only was Russ extremely informative but he kept us on our toes, especially torwards the end. I will be looking forward to the next course in the area by Adler & Associates!

Thanks Russ!!!

This truely was a great course. It makes you think about your vehicle completely differenct than you did before the course. For some reason most of us think of shooting through the glass in a defensive situation as taboo even when outside the vehicle. I was the first to be made an example of that point. Thanks Russ. This is definately a course I would recommend to anyone who carrys a gun with them in their vehicle.

As for the question about how the glass affects the trajectory of the rounds... It really depended on the ammo that was being used. All but one seemed to have some deflection one way or the other. The 9mm Wolf used by at least two of the students made clean cuts in the glass and without any noticable deflection. Most of the other ammo that was used would also send a slug of glass through the paper targets slightly higher than the bullet itself.

For those of you that didn't make it to this course or haven't been to other courses in our area, what are you waiting for? Get out and come to some of the great courses that are offered in our area. I can remember not very long ago that you would have to travel to get good training. Now we have companies like Adler & Associates, Bushido Tactical & Magpul Dynamics all right here in our own back yards.

Hope to see you on the range.

Just want to add that this was an eye-opening class.  The techniques are very practical and the shooting through the windshield spell is broken.  Not going to have a problem with that if it's needed.
