don't know how many of you, like me, really feel strongly about privacy but i really hate this dam program.  i found that my open garage along w/ all my hot rods & truck tags were pretty noticeable.  well it took me awhile but if you want your house, car, you, or whateverelse is in the picture removed here is the webpage to tell you how.  maps.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=68385  if its already been brought up here then im sorry

I like google maps but I don't really care for the street view.

The of my house is at least 5 years old and the "street View" function doesn't work, so I guess I'm OK.

mine shows my house right around christmas of 07.
you can clearly see tags on the cars.
pulled up a buddys house, and you can see half the stuff in the garage.
this does bother me a little.

I reported the issue to Google because my plates show up along with the plate of my former police issue vehicle. It's a government issued car and even though I no longer have it it still advertises the fact that I am a police officer and that I might have something for them to steal (firearms/police gear).

Google told me to pound sand.

When did you last try?  I think they're catching a lot of heat right now, so they seem to be more willing to remove images than they had in the past.  You might want to follow the link in the original post and try again.  I did it just a couple of weeks ago and the pictures of my house have now been removed.

I just tried it, and tried several addresses that I know, and in shots where there were vehicles, the tags were blurred.  My house had a shot from the side and back, so nothing showing thank God.  I can see where it could be a problem though.

yeah several complaints/court issues have come up against them.... everything from gated communities who claim they drove on private drives, from a mom who said you could see her daughters swimming in their bathing suits to people claiming you can clearly see into their windows.  i understand what they are trying to do but in the end its just not a good thing....

ejay84 thanks for the link. I sent a request for them to remove my house from their maps. I report back if they do remove it. This whole Street View thing has left me a little uneasy. My house is located at an intersection and sits on an angle. You can see on four sides of my house and the entire back yard. This may prove invaluable to any one who comes looking for me. Hopefully they will remove it.

no problem.... i am not sure if i am more worried about google having this or...... the person/people who are driving around taking these pictures!  how does google select these people?

I think the street view is neat. I personally don't mind my house being on there.
