Good idea. Since my wife will be getting up about 2 hours afterwards, I am not going stay up for this one even if it is the last night launch for the Shuttle.

Same. Although I didn't get on top of a building. Walking outside told me all I needed to know...

I went there and watched it. Although it was spectacular it only lasted about 45 seconds, and then we lost sight due to the clouds.

I saw it pretty up close and personal. It was so damn bright I actually had to shield my eyes. Excellent photography opportunity. I do the shuttle patrols for the USCG. You can bet your ass we had a nice viewpoint.

I made the mistake of using the 10x binocs. The first few seconds it wasn't too bad, but when it got 200-300 ft off the ground that fucker lit up the whole sky. It was like staring straight into the sun.
