Is it legal? Just making sure the FWC or Naples Marine Police aren't going to give me any trouble about carrying (valid license and fully concealed weapon of course).

Never go on the water without it.  Sometimes with a lot more!!!!!  For far offshore altercations can be as bad or worse than the ramp altercations.......

The law states that you can open carry a firearm while camping,fishing or hunting without a CWL. I have never had a problem on the rivers and lakes in freshwater, open carrying a pistol. I never carry open when on the boat in the ICW, flats, close to shore. I guess the reason for this is I never see anyone else carrying open on saltwater, don't want the hassle from the FWC.

I work in fisheries LE.  You can open carry in Gulf and inland waters.  Most the shark fishermen carry .357s with them for the sharks.  When they get boarded they usually just take it off and put in the wheelhouse to make the Coast Guard feel better.

FL law states:

Link to the Law

790.25  Lawful ownership, possession, and use of firearms and other weapons.--

(3)  LAWFUL USES.--The provisions of ss. 790.053 and 790.06 do not apply in the following instances, and, despite such sections, it is lawful for the following persons to own, possess, and lawfully use firearms and other weapons, ammunition, and supplies for lawful purposes:

(h)  A person engaged in fishing, camping, or lawful hunting or going to or returning from a fishing, camping, or lawful hunting expedition;

790.053 refers to Open carrying of weapons and 790.06 refers to License to carry concealed weapon or firearm.

I'm not sure if carrying concealed without a CCW would be legal but open carry is clearly legal when engaged in "fishing, camping, or lawful hunting or going to or returning from a fishing, camping, or lawful hunting expedition"

So if I'm going camping, as soon as I leave my house, I can open carry?

I wonder about that one too.  I have looked for some case law on the subject and I have found none.  Anyone want to be the test case?
