Anybody know of a good gunsmith in Miami? I live by MIA, and need a night sight installed onto a Ruger SP101. It will require a drill press. Gun-Doc's phone is disconnected, and I saw a bad review on Fischer Gunsmithing.

I've known Somarriba since I was a pup.... I lived next to him when he still ran his business out of his garage in Winston Park down in Kendall, right off SW 132 Ave and 80 ST I think. Next to Winston Park Elementary. Really nice guy. Before he was a gun smith he was a neurosurgeon in Venezuela. I grew up in that shop and that is what got me interested in firearms and gun smithing. Last I checked his son now runs most of the business but the old man is still working on the firearms.

I had him install a set of Novaks sights on my father's Colt 1911-A1 Series 80. He cut the dovetails and installed them to such a degree of perfection that you'd think they were from Colt's Custom Center. Price was around $100 I think. Sights plus labor.

Dave Pruitt is no longer at Gun-Doc. It's now Robert Van Valkenburg.

Somarriba seems to want to charge too much. Their estimate for installing a measly front sight was $75.

I don't think anyone is at Gun Doc anymore.  Went by there last week and a For Lease sign is over the door.
