The wife (ManBearPig) and I just returned from another FANTASTIC Eagle Tactics class. Today we took the one day Defensive Handgun class. It was a refresher for me and her first ET class. The day was perfect. Nice and sunny (read HOT), but a few passing clouds and pretty constant breeze made it bearable. The roads and parts of the range were quite muddy due to the recent rains. They even had to move the targets and firing line about 10 yards forward from the berm because of the ground conditions. Class started at 8:30 and went through till about 9:30. It was similar to our first class Linky and a great refresher for me. For those who have never attended, It is a full day class which starts with the basics, including gun and range safety, moves on to proper weapons handling, stance, grips, firing. It then progresses to presentation, engaging targets, failure to stops, clearing malfunctions, drawing from concealment, tactical and speed reloading and even includes multiple assailant scenarios and finally finishes up with some night time searches and assailant engagements. All in all, a very full day with lots of great information and great people, including Nelson and staff. Another giant +1 to the Eagle Tactics crew. The class was so popular that another full day class is scheduled for tomorrow due to demand. I'm really looking forward to the two day Advanced Tactical Handgun and two day Advanced Tactical Rifle classes that are coming up. If you have not yet reserved your slot for either of these classes, I would suggest that you get your deposit in QUICKLY as slots are filling up fast. The Instructor from Lou's is Danny. I took the Sunday Class yesterday and at the end of the day I can definitely say that I got my moneys worth. MiamiARFan summed up some of the stuff we did so I wont get into that, but I really liked how they gradually start you up and get your fundamentals right just about the time to move to the next drill. The instructors were also great. They really helped out everyone including myself and not once did I here anyone of the raise their voice at any student. Eagle Tactics has a really good Team working for them. This Course was precisely planned from start to finish. ANYONE who owns a Handgun SHOULD take this course. I'm going to sign up for Both Tac Handgun classes next time they come around because I can't make the first one coming up. Time to start saving some money! Khem |
