Hello all, Wanted to make my first post in the hometown section, to introduce myself and my rifle to the hometeam. My name is Dave and I live in the Melbourne/Palm Bay area with my wife and daughter. I come from a family of avid shooters and enlisted men, and have lived in the area for the last 26 yrs or so. Okay, enough on me. My rifle is a DPMS A3 16" listed below is how she stands as of now. DPMS A3 flat top upper DPMS A-15 lower Samson MRFS free float handguards (from Talon Arms) Tango Down vertical grip (from Talon Arms) Pentagon MS-2 battle light (again from Talon Arms) Specter 3 point sling and for the time being a Hakko blue ring red dot sight (no problems with it so I can't complain) One thing I am missing is a rear BUIS which will soon be a LMT A2 style, and replace the Hakko with an Eotech. My rifle and I http://www.avrid.com/files/D_IMG_3730 My rifle http://www.avrid.com/files/D_IMG_3683 Oh, I bought her new in July and have put 2200 rounds of M855 through her. She performs like a champ. Modifyed her handguard system in Nov. Dave |

Welcome Dave! First things first. You should head on over to www.fdcc.us and check out the crew. I know it is a bit of a drive, but I usually make it up there from Deltona every month, so if you want to join us, you are welcome. I have a standing invitation to anyone who wants to come up. Just make it to Deltona by 10:00 am and I will do the rest. -White Horse |

B-O-A-T-S, I didn't kow there was a range in Titusville, We have been going down to the public range in Fellsmere off 512. Since I live right off US1 in Palm Bay it only takes us about 20 min to get there, so we are usually there at least twice a month. However, it does get busy down there, and sometimes you get funny looks for haveing an evil rifle from some of the traditional hunting folk, so we are always looking for new places. Email me the info or post here if you don't mind. Thanks guys, Dave |

I thought there was a Range in Palm Bay that would be closer than the Titusville range. I am not a very big fan of the Titusville range. One guy got very upset and left because my rifle was tool loud for him on the plinking range. Hmmm, image that, a shooting range being loud. One nice bonus for joining is that you can get pistols, rifles and reloading stuff at cost. If it were not for this added bonus, I would not renew and only pay when The hours are not that great either. I actually rather driver an extra 25 miles to a further range in Sanford which is much better overall. |
Titusville Rifle and Pistol They're located off of exit 223 on I-95. It's a private club ($100/yr) or $10 a day for range fees. Not a bad place but kind of restrive. THe range is only open from 9am to 12pm. Thats for members and non members. Your best bet is to get there early enough and try and snag one of the empty pistol ranges and see if the RO will let you use it for Carbine. I usually do this but have run into some problems. Apparently some of the RO's think that only Police Officers should be running transition drills and anything else other than shooting from the 25yd line. They also have a 200yd line. Good luck with that. From my experience you have to know someone to be able to shoot it. Again, it appears that only Police Officers are good enough to shoot on it. I say this because they're the only ones i've seen on the 200yd line. A more expensive choice (however much better) is Port Malabar Rifle and Pistol Club. They charge a lot more that TRPC, but they have a 600yd line amongst other ranges. Also they're open sunup-sundown 365 days a year. Much more freedom, much more money. The only thing i've heard of is with this club you need to be checked off to shoot on certain ranges. However it is all private, no daily range fees. You NEED to be a member. |
