I'm looking at joining a shooting range in the Central Florida area. So far I've found Seminole County Gun, Central Florida (Wewahootee), and Chuluota Sportsmen's Club. All require NRA, but Central Florida is definitely the most expensive at $310/year including renewing my membership. Seminole county is about $205 with NRA renewal and Chuluota coming in low at about $145. Who's a member of any of these, and what comments can you give me about them. I'm interested in joining in about a month or so. I'm already planning on going to the open shoot at Seminole on April 3rd (heard it's a zoo there during these shoots). If anyone wants some company when they go, bring me along so I can test out the place. I have a glock, couple shotguns and a couple of rifles (including a Bushmaster AR-15 that still has its virginity), so I need a place that I can shoot all three. I saw that one place had a Sporting Clay setup - that's great a blast. Let me know what your opinions are. Thanks Mike |

You may want to visit each range and talk to members, feel free to e-mail me for details. One range mentioned is ruled by shotgunners and discourages the use of combat type rifles and pistols, in fact they forced out the IPSC shooters cause they "shoot to fast". One other range does not have any action shooting for the same reason. From what I have seen in the central florida area, CFRPC is by far the best range for rifle and pistol "action" shooting, and has strong ties to all the action sports & is black rifle friendly. CFRPC anual membership is $134 a year, the first year is more expensive due to taxes and sighnup fee but it is well worth it if you are close. Location is everything, if you are a member at a range 40 miles away how often will you shoot vs one 10 miles away? |
