FDCC monthly match this Sunday the 28th, 9:30am, at the Lake City range.

Here's the first COF:

And the second:

(new-arguy had not approved the second COF before his post. This cof does require a handgun.)

And this one if we have time:

I was wondering what type of matches will be held at this match. Will there be team matches that have sniper/carbine/pistol like last time or was that only for the 3 year?

The sniper\carbine\handgun team is a once a year thing at the anniversary shoots. We setup our normal carbine\handgun courses the rest of the year.

We've reduced the size of the cof's so we can run at least two of them and make sure everyone shoots.

And of course there's always the shootoff....

Ok, so there will be carbine/pistol though this time? I just wanted to clarify because i didnt want to bring someone out when you guys arent doing pistol. Do we need to e-mail you on who is comming etc or was that just for last time as well?

There will very likely be VERY little, if any, pistol shooting. We encourage people to bring sidearms in case they should need them if they run outof rifle ammo or have a malfunction. But if you have enough ammo and gun that is running propperly, you probably wont be shooting much pistol, if at all.

There are three gun matches and pistol matches in at least 2 or 3 other areas that I can think of. We started FDCC becasue there was no place to have a rifle competiton. Therefore, we stick primarily to rifles.

Here's some directions that should get you where you need to be...

1) Take I-75 to the Rt 90 exit.

2) TRAVEL EAST ON HIWAY 90 THRU LAKE CITY. (KEEP TO THE LEFT THE WHOLE TIME) APPROX 4.9 MI FROM THE INTERSTATE YOU WILL INCOUNTER RAILROAD TRACKS. AS SOON AS YOU CROSS THE TRACKS TAKE THE IMMEDIATE LEFT. (SR 100, IT ALSO HAS ANOTHER NAME I CANT REMBER)

3) YOU WILL PASS OVER ANOTHER SET OF RAIL TRACKS AND START LOOKING FOR A "MOOSE LODGE 624" SIGN. (NOT FAR) TURN RIGHT ON THE ROAD AFTER THE SIGN (WILLIAMS ROAD).
WILLIAMS ROAD DEAD ENDS INTO A LAKE. BEFORE THE LAKE ON YOUR LEFT HAND SIDE THEIR IS A DIRT ROAD CALLED (RANGE ROAD) TURN LEFT ONTO IT.

(GO SLOW THE ROAD IS SMOOTH AT FIRST BUT GETS BUMPY LATER). TRAVEL APPROX 1 MI ON THIS ROAD AND A ROAD WILL APPEAR ON YOUR RIGHT HAND SIDE (IT IS THE ONLY ROAD THAT CONNECTS TO RANGE ROAD) TURN ON TO IT AND THE OSCEOLA RANGE WILL BE ON YOUR LEFT. (YOU CAN ALMOST SEE THE RANGE FROM THE TURN)

sorry for the caps, this was copied and pasted from someplace else...

CoF's look awesome.  Can't wait to try 'em out!!!

See you all Sunday!

Stephen

ps.
I think I have another couple ideas for CoF's if you still want some suggestions, Dirk.

Yes, definately.

Did you notice cof #2 was a variation of your design?

oops, my bad. One of the courses actually require a little handgunning!

I'll get them sent asap, Dirk.  Expect more abnormal shooting positions, movement, handgun transition stuff, etc.

Right now I'm trying to think of how we could simulate retrieving your rifle from the trunk of a car.....

Stephen:

How 'bout a long storage container on a folding table?  Maybe one of those huge Rubbermaid things from Wall World.  I can bring the table.  Let me know.

That's kinda what I had in mind.  I have one of the real long and wide (but shallow) ones that they sell for storing Christmas wrapping paper.  I figure it needs to be pretty big, seeing as how we have so many different rifle shapes and configurations to deal with.  I was thinking of bringing a ballistic vest too.  Maybe we can retrieve rifle AND don vest before taking out the nasty paper bad guys.  Just a thought...it's a work in progress really.

Going to try to make a few rough sketches to bring to you tomorrow, Dirk.

Stephen

ps.
The new job is giving me a plethora of ideas...hehe

A view down the line.

There usually arent many pics of New-ARguy at the shoots, so I got a few of him this time.

Here is New-ARguy barking out giving our opening instructions.

Here is is after setting his rifle up for the first COF.

His beast waiting to be thrust into action.

Here are some of him in action.

Over his shoulder.

New shooter today. Hope you had a good time Jason.

The shootoff begins. Had to use your handgun first and take out 2 balloons at about 10 yards, then go to your rifle and get 1 balloon at 35 yards.

Some pics of our resident mascot perched atop New-ARguy's hat.

Here is a picture of what the rifle part of the 2nd COF looked like.

Looks like you've changed the autoexposure setting to overexpose the shoots.  Either that or it was unGodly bright that day.  Might also have set it to (Backlit mode) which doesn't try to correct the really bright part of the picture.

YMMV

Man, thanks for that, I'll look at the settings in the camera to see if I can figure this out.
