Utah ...

Unfortunately, that's the small pin, pretty sure the rear take down pin is large.  The QD swivel would be my buddy's preference, rather than the small loop.

Thanks for you response!

ETA:  My bad.  HK Parts says that the MP5 series & clones (what my friend has) takes the small take down pin.

That looks like what my bud would be interested in, the QD swivel is available from various sources.  Unfortunately, HK Parts shows the pin as "out-of-stock".

Thanks for your help!

AP5 landed today. I modified these Cetme hand guards and they pop on so tight that they almost don’t need the pin. It’s a work in progress.

I’m considering getting a Holosun HS503R multi-reticle circle dot for my PTR 9CT. I feel like the price point is decent and I love circle dot reticles as opposed to just a 2moa dot. It comes with a lower 1/3 mount. Does anyone have any arguments for/against pairing this with an MP5 clone? I had also been considering the new Aimpoint Duty, but I would kind of prefer the circle dot, plus the Aimpoint costs quite a bit more.

Modern reproduction Bering PU 3.5x scope. 2.5 to 3 in groups at 100 yards with Tulammo,  really starting to like this rifle. Was it worth the hassle of what I went through to bore sight and make sure the reticle was centered? Hell I don't know. But I really like how light the scope is and the reticle.
A refinish is the next think on the agenda for this rifle

I appreciate the feedback! I just grabbed one from EuroOptic for $203. I can’t wait to put it on my PTR 9CT!

Range report. 500 rounds of AAC (PSA) 124 grain. Only one failure to eject after ditching the AC Unity mags (they routinely wouldn't feed the last 3 or 4 rounds). 250 rounds straight with no issues using HK and MKE mags.

Dumb question. I am working on a F4 for my AP5. There is a 9 digit alpha numeric number and a 5 digit number on the top of the receiver. Which is the SN?

The whole thing. The serial numbers on the MKE guns are comically long.

If you look at the sticker on the box you can see it printed under the "Firearm S/N" barcode

Made some tweaks to my PTR-32 in an effort to lighten/compact it a bit.  Swapped the wide handguard for a MLOK rail, replaced fixed stock with a Choate adjustable-length folder at its shortest length which is just about perfect.  Waffling on keeping the PA 2.5x there but not sure what would be better aside from another red dot.

I actually started with the classic Choate folder and was surprised at how long it was.  Like just about unusable for me.  Maybe I'm just too short.    I wish the contour of the adjustable-length version was similar to the classic, or the downward strut was further back, as it partially blocks the trigger when folded.  It works though, and I understand why its designed the way it is.

Nice fit and finish, damn near matches the HK grip housing perfectly.

I guess like most AP5 owners, I’d wanted an MP5 for as long as I could remember but the cost of entry was always too much.  That changed for me and most I think as these AP5’s became available.  I’m very happy with mine, had handful of malfunctions during break in and now it’s been trouble free and I’ve go about 1000 rounds through it.  Hands down my favorite firearm in the collection.  I plan on picking up an AP5-P next.

Upgrades:
- Navy style SEF trigger housing
- Magpul safety
- Zenith US made trigger pack w/trigger job
- HK Gen 3 ejector and HK ejector spring
- KAC MP5 RAS handguard
- KAC VFG
- HK parts US made charging handle
- HK A3F 3 position stock
- MFI low profile pic rail claw mount
- ADM low 30mm Aimpoint mount
- Aimpoint CompM3

@HD2006 that's just about the perfect fullsize setup! Same story for me, having lots of fun with an AP5P after balking at the SP5K cost

Another iteration of the furniture on my great value™ mp5k - replaced grip, stock, housing
Going for a record number of shades of black on a single gun

Thank you, AP5-P is very nice as well.  I ended up ordering an AP5-P from my LGS.  Plan for that is to do a classic PDW clone.  Broom handle hand guard and HK marked Choate side folder stock.

Great looking gun!

I went with the AP5-P and am going to keep it as is and not SBR it.  Works great as a backpack gun and I can keep it loaded in a pack since it's a pistol.

I see B&T has the best prices on B&T side folders for the MP5K. They are of course out of stock. How long do they usually take to get back in stock?

Or are there any in stock for the MP5K at a good price anywhere else?

Down we go

Haven't done much with mine yet, just got the AFG and magpul sling I had laying around for it.
Next is a sight mount and red dot that will coindex the current sights and a binary trigger.   I'm going to keep this one a pistol and get a P model that I plan to SBR and get a suppressor for.

Picked up my AP5-P today.  Fit and finish is great.  I gave it a thorough inspection at the store; checked the bolt gap, made sure the tri lug was in spec, checked the sights and welds.  No issues with it.  Brought it home and gave it thorough cleaning.  Also installed an HK gen 3 ejector and HK ejector spring.

I’m going to put a few hundred rounds through it and as long as there are no issues submit the form 1.  The plan after that gets approved is to buy an HK PDW stock and broom handle hand guard.
