I'm about to pull the trigger on purchasing a Z-5P. I will file the paperwork to SBR it shortly after purchasing it. What is required to switch out the Zenith lower to a SEF style lower or a lower that would be authentic to the MP5K?

Are you referring to a Navy style housing or a contoured housing with "SEF" markings on it? Either way, as long as you get a pushpin style SEF housing (not clipped & pinned), it should be a two minute job. Rotate the safety up, pull it out, pull the trigger pack out, drop it in the new housing and reinstall the safety.

Yes, a Navy style housing is what I was referring to. Any idea where I might be able to find one that is the pushpin style?

You can't post links to non-advertisers here.  Just google "MP5 lower trigger housing" and you will find lots of links to online stores including the first hit on Google.

If you are going SBR you will need to start gathering 922r compliance parts. HKParts has almost everything you'd need to gain at least four compliance parts in the trigger box (trigger, hammer, sear, trigger box), then use a German Navy push pin housing of your choosing. You can then make up the other two parts with a US made front grip, a US made Choate side folding stock or a US made charging handle.
