I finally got my Stamp back for my DJ Getz MP5 clone to SBR it. It was one of the rifle models that Atlantic Firearms had a few years back. This past weekend I dremilled off the extension and unfortunately go part of my barrel tip, but not too deep thankfully. After seeing my mistake I went to install a B&T flash hider I got from HK parts (LINK) to keep the ugly out of sight, out of mind. The flash hider slides on, but I can't get it to turn far enough to allow the locking bar to lock back closed. It will only rotate maybe 10 Degrees instead of the 1/3 to 1/4 turn needed to allow it to lock.

Any thoughts on what may be causing this? Because it slides on and partially turns I'm thinking it May be the paint that's at the top of the three-lug nearest the hand guard, but was wondering what else I should check. This happens with both the hand guard installed and uninstalled, so there's no interference  between the two.

Pictures: Sorry for the poor Quality. Yes that's my cutting wheel groove.

First of all ouch!!! Sorry about the cutting wheel incident. I had this same issue with one of my MP5s when I went to put a can on the three lug there was too much paint on the three lugs to allow the can to go on.

The more I look at it, I'm not sure it's the partially painted section behind the lugs that is causing the issue. I think it may actually be the front sloped edge of the lugs. after oiling the flash hider and three lug and repeatedly sliding it on and twisting as much as possible, there's a wear mark/witness mark about half way up on the front sloped part of the lug. I meant to take a picture last night, but forgot. I need to break out some calipers and measure everything. I don't want to file on anything and risk causing any more damage to my barrel.

Just an FYI, If anyone is thinking of buying an mp5 clone to SBR, definitely go the pistol route instead of a rifle with a pinned on flash hider.

Contact HK parts. Perhaps something is funky with the 3 lug flash hider? Anyway to test it on something else with a 3 lug?

I have an Atlantic Arms build. It is supposedly a DJ Getz gun from my understanding. I had no issues with attaching my 3 lug can. It is very much like yours where the "tip" is left in the white and there is over splash from coating the barrel and such.

I hadn't really thought about that. Everything I had read suggested B&T was good to go and that it was common for clone 3 lugs to be slightly out of spec. I can't think of anyone I know around me who has a 3 lug to test it out on. May be time to make a post in the KY hometown forum. This is the model I purchased in March 2014 LINK

EDIT: Add product link for comparison sake
