I was thinking about one myself, Ghilliebear or Jeff from Parabellum Tactical Defense Solutions does excellent work. The kit cost about 2,200 between that and his fee it's about three thousand. He won't make an SBR. He will make a pistol and add the compliance parts, send in a form one. Once you get your stamp back, just add the stock and have it engraved. Instant SBR ! |
|
I have a DJ Getz 89k that is currently waiting on a form 1. To use the pictured stock I *believe* you would need to look for a "reverse stretch 89k". It's basically the full size mp5 frame, which allows you to add the usual mp5 stock varieties, with a short K barrel. My only regret with going with the 89k is that I can't go with a collapsible stock, but a short UMP stock is sexy I suppose. |
|
I also had Jeff "Ghilliebear" work on my K, which was converted into a PDW. I would suggest holding off until later this year. MKE will be importing their roller locks again sometime in Q3 and Q4. These are HK licensed gun built in Turkey and the quality is top notch. All Ghillie did on my MKE "K" was the switch out the barrel to a three lug.
MKE is said they were going to import reverse stretch models, yet I don't know when. If you can't wait, they any of the builders already mentioned would serve you well. |
|
Thanks for the great info guys. If MKE is going to offer a reverse stretch I might be able to wait it out. I've read good things about the MKE guns.
I'll look into the other suggestions. Dakota Tactical Jeff "Ghilliebear" Mike Turner Jeff from Parabellum Tactical Defense Solutions DJ Getz |

Another vote for DJ Getz.
I just got a Reverse Stretch rifle, and it looks and feels great (haven't got it to the range yet). The nice thing about DJ Getz is the weapons are complete and ready to go, no messing around with kits and builds. It took me about a week from the time I first spoke with him till I had the rifle in hand. He also has phenomenal customer service, he answered every stupid question I threw at him within 10 minutes. |

Get in on the djgetz stuff sooner than later. He's got a sale thread over on HKpro. If I wasn't knee deep in mp5 clones already, I'd order a couple more. Quoted:

Cool. Do you know if he will engrave your form 1 info? Only thing you've got to do to turn it into a sbr is remove the fake suppressor correct? Will it still be 922r with the fake suppressor removed? I guess I should be asking DJ these questions, but figured you might of already asked. |
|
It will be 922r compliant because it is a US parts gun. The ones from Dakota and Gillie Bear are made from German HK parts kits that's one of the reasons they are much more expensive. Both will work and be very nice but some guys will pay a premium for German HK parts.
DJ does do factory SBRs. Otherwise if you got the rifle you would need to remove the pinned fake can once you stamp comes in. I'd get it engraved at some point while waiting on the stamp. |
|
I'd start with the pistol if you are wanting to SBR down the road. Plus it'll force you to actually get the SBR paperwork going. As a pistol, they are fun, but nowhere near as fun as a SBR.
Also, Significantly easier to add a stock than mill off a fake can. My fake can was also terribly loose on my clone (old bobcat, not the latest clones) and I couldn't hit anything with it. I strongly thought about ditching it before one of my friend talked me into keeping it. |

Jeff "Ghilliebear" goes by Ghillebear2000 over on HK Pro for the win. Great guy to deal with, very fair prices and quick turn around time.
Parabellum HK Pro forum ETA: Also OP, between the two pics you posted, there will be a pretty substantial price difference. one is a picto lower and the other is an SEF. Picto set up will run you about $600-$800 more. Crazy I know.... |

Are you set on a collapsible stock? The Choate Tactical folder gives you a nice short stock and can be made a little longer with spacers. It also gives you a better cheek weld. I love mine on my MKE 94k SBR. <a href="http://s1194.photobucket.com/user/usncorpsman1/media/imagejpg1_zps95ba9793.jpg.html" target="_blank">http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa375/usncorpsman1/imagejpg1_zps95ba9793.jpg</a> <a href="http://s1194.photobucket.com/user/usncorpsman1/media/imagejpg2_zps7a03af88.jpg.html" target="_blank">http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa375/usncorpsman1/imagejpg2_zps7a03af88.jpg</a> <a href="http://s1194.photobucket.com/user/usncorpsman1/media/imagejpg3_zps25149a16.jpg.html" target="_blank">http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa375/usncorpsman1/imagejpg3_zps25149a16.jpg</a> <a href="http://s1194.photobucket.com/user/usncorpsman1/media/imagejpg4_zpsb8d773d9.jpg.html" target="_blank">http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa375/usncorpsman1/imagejpg4_zpsb8d773d9.jpg</a>

I've jumped into the MP5 clone market with both feet recently. I bought a MP5 fullsize factory SBR built by Jayson from IGF. The guy I bought it from has barely shot it and it was an all HK parts gun with A2 and A3 stock.
I also bought one of the Atlantic 89K pistols to play with until the form 4 comes in. I'm going to test it a lot to make sure its good then form 1 it and add the side folding stock for a PDW build. I'm really liking the AP micro mounted low on that PDW it looks great! |

He is going to do a full K conversion and I will SBR it. This was taken at the Bi-Annual Eastern Lancaster Co Rod and Gun Club's Bi-Annual Machine Gun Shoot held last weekend. Dane |
