So I have put about 500rds through my newly SBR'd MKE 94p.  Everything looked great on it and it functioned 100% with various magazines.  I took it apart today and cleaned it to find a the front of the locking piece was broken off.  I orderd a new one from Hkparts.net, but I was wondering if that is common or just a bad part?  I have a MKE 94K SBR too and have about 2k through it with no problems.  Should I worry about that?

The cool thing is the gun still functioned 100% with it broken..  I do love me some MP5 clones!!

I don't know if it's common or not but it happened to me.

I've read old posts on the HK forums showing similar damage. Better check the depth of the bolt recess on your gun. If the LP wasn't too long, the recess is too short. Wouldn't want to see it happen to your replacement. The rollers don't come anywhere near the end, it had to be hitting inside the bolt head.

So I'm pretty new to these guns.  Would I really just need a new bolt?  How can I check the recess?

That's just how mine looks.  Did getting a new one fix the problem or did you have problems with other parts?

Same thing happened to mine right after I bought it..
Purchased a replacement RCM LP and never had any issues after 1-2000 rnds...

Sounds like the problem is with the length of the LP. It would be educational to see how the MKE LP measures up against the HK part.

Here are my notes on the HK LP.  The top image is the actual visual scan of the locking piece, the lower is the scan image after moving it to CAD.  :

Never had any problems even when it broke.  I discovered it incidentally while cleaning the gun and I don't clean my guns very often I like them dirty and grimy (it was probably broken for awhile).

Only other problem I've had with parts is when I put a can on that MP5 it will bend the extractor spring within a few hundred rounds.  Not sure what that's about but now I have a BMP SD and a post sample can so it's no problem.

I'll have to keep an eye on that for my MKE.

I ended up getting a new LP and I'll see how that goes.  I hope I wont need a new bolt head, but it seems like a new LP is all that it takes to make it work.  I wonder if it is just not hardened correctly because it seems like it is common with the guns.
