I just ordered a UMP SBR conversion and had a question to anyone that has a UMP. Do you feel a muzzle brake is worth the money or should I just stick with a thread protector?
It will probably have a suppressor on it most of the time but I have not decided yet. |

I do put the B&T flash hider on mine from time to time, when the suppressor isn't on. More to protect the muzzle than anything else... |

I have been looking at an HDPS bird cage model. |

I could never bring myself to pay what HDPS wants for the flash hider. Plus, I've shot mine at an in door range without a FH, and don't recall any blinding flash. I think the long 7.87" barrel helps. I say pass on the FH, and use the money for an extra magazine, especially since you intend to run a suppressor most of the time anyway.

| First off, HDPS is a great company and Ed did a fine job on my USC to UMP conversion. With that said, I wish I hadn't spent the money on the vortex type flash suppressor. I've noticed no reduction in muzzle rise and it changed my point of impact. It looks cool, but I no longer use it. |
