Im in the process of having an MP5 SBR built , now Im wondering what people do for optics .

Aimpoints and Eotechs seem to be the most popular. I would probably put a Micro Aimpoint T1 on it personally.

All mine wear Aimpoints.  I don't like the way the Eotech looks on the 9x series guns.

First question: how does one build an MP5?  Full auto?

MP5 parts kit, receiver flat, and send it off to someone like Jayson at IGF. Sorry, semi auto unless you have a registered sear.

Which claw rail is that?  Any fit up or true up issues?

I did a B&T aimpoint mount. Using low rings, the aimpoint, or clone, cowitnesses perfectly.

I used the same low mount with the girls k-gun, and applied a primary arms micro clone on it and it also cowitnesses perfectly.

The mount is a B&T 10266, I'll get some pics up as soon as I get home.

That looks like an MFI mount. They are well regarded and are solid mounts. I use the above mentioned Aimpoint/B&T combo which allows for a bottom 1/3 cowitness. There are smaller optic sets but this one has always proven not only effective but quite rugged.

It is a MFI mount, I have one for each of my 94 clones, and both had to be fitted to their respective receivers. (I spent maybe 10-15mins on each)

They have both held up good so far.

Mine will soon be wearing my MePro M21, but I do have an astigmatism that render Aimpoints near useless for me.

sorry for the slow response, got home late. but here are some pics of the low mount and various aimpoint clones, on my clones.....

fullsize mp5 with fullsize aimpoint clone. the view was identical with my PRO before I moved it to my AR. this one cowitnesses perfectly when you get low enough to align all the sights. I usually relax my cheekweld a little bit and the dot hovers just above the front post, but below the front sight ring.

and this is the ring thats low enough to do this with.

here is the girls k-gun with the primary arms mini aimpoint clone, this one has a built in mount on the same B&T low aimpoint mount.

What are the part numbers on the base and ring on the MP5.  This is exactly what I'm looking for.  Best place to buy? DSA?

[#18]
The ring is a 12243. You will have to search for the best price, I've seen them as low as $10, but up to $70.

The mount is a B&T 10266, aimpoint also marketed them with their label on it as well, same model number.

MFI mount, PA microdot.  It does cowitness, but like the above, with a relaxed cheekweld, my dot hovers on abt the top of the sight ring (if it was there)..

B&T rail, LaRue Mount and ACOG 1,5X
http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/7265/p1000014a.jpg

It sits lower than it looks like in this picture. The 1,5X magnification gives a slight edge in precision, yet allows quick aiming.
