I would say that is a fair price if it is a real deal HK91.  These are no longer able to be imported to the country.

However I would not get one because I am not a collector.  I would rather spend that money on a .308 AR.

It really just depends on demand.

I had a PTR that was just fun to shoot.

I think its a fair price.

Thing to remember is that with Hk, you are paying in part for the collectibility of the firearm. So when you go to re-sell condition will be a factor. If you are the type who doesn't mind scratches here and there, claw marks on top of the receiver, then that won't be an issue. But if you tend to play rough with your toys, might as well get a PTR91 so you don't take a big hit in the wallet trying to sell it later on.

Yeah that's a good price for an HK-91. If you want a cheaper shooter I would suggest getting a Springfield SAR-3/8 which were made in Greece on HK tooling. I have one and it's a very good clone of the HK-91 and a bit cheaper. I picked mine up for $1300.

Seems a little high for me. Maybe offer $2100. (The collapsible stocks are around $200).
What kind of furniture? I bought mine in black but also bought the wood and the green furniture. The collapsible stock isn't that much fun to shoot.

And this is a collector price. You can buy AR'-10s, FAL's, & M1A's cheaper and more functional.

For use in .308 battle rifles, my preferred in rank,
1) AR-10
2) HK 91
3) M1A
4) FAL

That's a descent price, not stellar, but descent.

What's the date code?

Collapsible stocks are good at hiding roller marks.   Make sure you check.

It's an average price only if the rifle is in excellant condition. If the rifle is only in good condition it's high. You could definately do better if you are patient.

Seems a little high to me. But probably OK for a gun shop.

12 lb trigger, limit optic solutions, etc., was fine in the 80s as a battle rifle, but is antiquated vs todays designs.

I've got an HK91 and they are really tough to beat.
This is one of the original "pre-ban" rifles, meaning it was built overseas and imported into the US before 1987.
Among these pre-ban rifles are:  FN FAL, Styer AUG, Galil, other HK rifles, etc...   basically all the good stuff.
The ones that are here in the US are the only ones.  They have not been imported since 1987 so they are kinda collectable.
I wouldn't consider it collectable unless it was unfired or in crazy good like new condition.

The damn thing will shoot you poor!  I've owned mine for 16 years and it has never had a malfunction... NEVER EVER!
Those crazy Germans know how to build a good rifle!   However, the HK91 is a battle rifle.  It's not a precision shooter.
If you buy it, don't expect 3 holes touching at 100 yards.   Mine shoots about 2 inch groups with good ammo.
You could spend $2100 and build a kick ass AR.308 that would be more accurate, but it won't be as reliable and battle proven IMHO.

One of the best things about owning an HK91 is the mags... $2 mags baby!
cheaper than dirt had G3/HK91 mags for $1.97 each + shipping.
A couple years ago, I bought 40 mags for $75 at a gun show.  I own about 125 mags.   GTG :)

As far as other parts go, they are plentiful.   Used parts are usually priced pretty good, but new parts from HK are pricey.
Furniture is cheap and there are several styles to choose from.
Presonally, I like the green South African Army FN style furniture.  It's pretty cool.

As far as I'm concerned, the HK91 is one of the best rifles you can buy.
The factory claw mount for scopes will retain it's zero when taken on and off.
You can even put it on another HK91 and it will still have it's same zero...  try that on a AR.   Those crazy Germans!

If it had a standard A2 stock, $2100 is about what they go for around here.
$2300 for it with an A3 collapsable is about right if it's in good shape.

Cash talks.   Get it!
You will not regret it.
Just make sure it's in good condition.
