I have been searching for a "how to" on the USC to UMP conversion, without luck. If anyone knows of one on a forum, or somewhere, please let me know. Just ordered a grease gun lower, but I would really rather do the 4 pos UMP lower instead. Just need a little direction. I'm not 100% sure where to start, or the compliance issues. I've tried looking at some pictures on sites like HDPS, but rather than seeing what gets changed, I would like to know what needs to be changed and why. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Here is a 9mm conversion with video done by ChopstixKid.  He does these conversions along with Tbostic.

Check with them if you have any other questions, including time and prices.

It's really not that hard. I started mine myself. Biggest issue is finding all the parts at a reasonable price.

I've got a 4 pos lower for my future UMP conversion.

Basically, all that happens there is that you replace the UMP internals with USC internals. Then you have to get the selector "remarked" as the white line won't be in the right place. After that's all done you're good to go on the internals. The selector, since it's just a USC internal kit, won't rotate past the Semi auto setting.

Not an ad, but I might be selling my USC, 4 pos lower, and stock. Thinking about it. Might be more than I can chew.

I went with a FBI lower so no issues with the markings. Just make sure you block the area in front of the hammer so never can be thought of as a full auto. Also watch the cut in the receiver.
My first was done by a company in Tactical Excellence in FL -second done by serveral people including a guy on HKPro and Jason @ IGF. HDPS is the main supplier of parts now for .922 compliance.
Loads of fun. Get is also in 9mm.

Not necessary except for peace of mind. You also don't need to switch out the internals unless you live in a state that forbids the use of select fire internals in a semi auto. 3, 922r parts are needed only, barrel, stock, mag follower, floorplate, trigger ,sear any combo will suffice. The only thing you CANNOT do is cut the upper receiver to allow the disconnector in the lower receiver to fit when the two are put together. So you have to take out the disconnector or the USC upper will not fit onto the UMP lower. The UMP trigger pull is heavier than the USC and the secondary safety chatter on the USC that you won't have on the UMP is total BS.

If he wants to use a Navy or burst lower I'm pretty sure he does.

Nope, There is no documentable evidence that this is necessary. In one case in MI. a conversion was confiscated for this exact reason and later deemed by ATF that since there was no alteration to the USC upper it was acceptable and returned to the owner.
