Hey there. I just purchased a ptr91 GI model. I have not got the chance to take it out to the range yet, but if I manually load and then eject the round by pulling back on the charging handle, the round does not eject. The bolt head lets go of the round, but the round just sits there. Once in a while it will eject the round very lightly, basically dropping it to the side of the rifle. I am manually loading the round with full force, as in slapping the bolt to let it chamber the round, so I am not chambering it lightly. Any thoughts? Is this normal? I find it hard to believe that it should be.
That doesn't sound right. I just tested mine with a snap cap since its been a long time since I last hand cycled with it and it ejects pretty well when pulling the cocking handle fast or slow (to eject the round obviously on chambering riding with the cocking handle would keep the bolt from closing). I'd try a different spent case or snap cap just to make sure the one you are using isn't messed up somehow if you still have a problem check the extractor spring to make sure its not messed up.
Yeah this is really strange, all of the sudden it has started launching rounds after unsuccessfully extracting the first 10 or so. Now it seems every 1 out of 5 manually extracted rounds won't get launched across the yard and still does a lame sort of plop next to the rifle. I'm not sure why it is so inconsistent with this manual method. I assume it is something I am doing wrong, because if it had an issue I would assume it wouldn't work at all, not 1 out of every 5 roughly. I'm taking her out next saturday so that will render the verdict. Beautiful craftmanship though so far.
Yeah you'll know instantly when you shoot her if there is a real problem then, they definitely don't have a weak ejection when firing if everything is working right. With the deflector on in a indoor range mine will send the shells forward usually a couple feet and they still have enough energy to spin around one the floor for awhile when they get there I'm sure they would be all over without one.

Just wanted to update this for anyone considering purchase. Went out for the first time with it today and went through 200 rounds of german dag flawless. Couldn't be happier with it. |
