Unaware of Century's reputation I bought a POS CETME NIB for $300 seven years ago. Long story short, a few years later I was told by multiple sources that the barrel would need to be repressed for the bolt to lock-up correctly. I am in between gun projects and have finally come around to possibly having this fixed.
I've searched but did not find anything solid. Can anyone recommend a good 'smith that can competently work on CETME/HK style rifles and would be willing to touch a $300 rifle? Any ideas on what to expect cost wise? Thanks in advance. |

checkout ghilliebear on hkrpo forums. He does excellent work and is affordable. Unfortunately, the barrel press service may cost you half of what you have into the gun. Thank you very much for the info. I'd be willing to pay that to get the rifle fixed. I'll get in contact with him. Thanks again. |

Yeah, the barrel needs to be pressed further into the trunnion. As is, the bolt carrier(I've tried multiple) is slamming the charging handle assembly into the charging tube stop. It has knock the stop loose and slightly cracked the tube around the stop's cross bolt. I've tried multiple bolt assemblies, rollers, and combinations of parts. All get the same result. Some combos get in-spec bolt gaps, but I am told they are "false readings" as there is no gap/play between the charging handle assembly and bolt carrier when in full battery. |
