What are the differences and why ?
If I have it right, the MP5k is a 4" barrel and the barrel is flush, while the PDW is a 5" barrel and has the 3 lugs?? Besides the 3 lugs and ability for supressors, etc are there anymore differences? scottMO |
| The PDW has a side folding stock, while the original Mp5K just has a back plate. And like you mentioned the PDW has the 3 lug barrel to attach a suppressor, while the standard Mp5K has a shorter flush barrel. And as for why the differences.. First the Mp5K came out to be the most compact version of the Mp5 so you could conceal it under a jacket. But after actually trying to shoot it they found out that a shoulder stock was a good idea to add so the user could make more accurate hits on target. And of course hey might as well give the user the ability to use a suppressor as well. So they came out with the Mp5K PDW later on. |

Here is a pic of an MP5k-PDW with an Hk PDW suppressor. The barrels of the PDW are threaded and 3 lug. The threading is the standard 9mm Hk threading - 1/2" x 32 TPI.

Why not get the three lug and keep you options open? It's only an inch longer,. Think of it as an extension of your manhood. Right now I need all the extension I can get. More importantly, think of it as extra protection against shooting your finger off. That's why the SP89 had a handguard that protruded past the end of the barrel... just to keep you from reaching in front of it when shooting. That's also why the MP5K grip has that finger protector on the front of it. |
