I want to buy a semi auto 9mm rifle and was thinking of an MP5 Clone or AR15 9mm. I have shot FA MP5s and was very impressed with the accuracy and low recoil. I never shot an AR 9mm but see them around.
What is better AR or MP5? I'm leaning toward an MP5 clone. What MP5 clone should I get? Who has them? If it matters, I'm not using it for self defense but for matches. |

I shoot the hell out of mine..I'm in MI, wanna try it sometime, PM me. What MP5 clone should I get? Cohaire, SW, Bobcat, all may require work, most can be made reliable with a few parts. Who has them? GB and Cohaire, HKPro If it matters, I'm not using it for self defense but for matches. See answers above. Jeff |

I picked up a SW89 pistol and SW5 at 2100 for both thanks for the help If you don't mind me asking, did you buy them off GB, EE or some other place? I posted on the WTB and someone here in MI contacted me Have you shot them yet? Don't use weak ammo like Remington UMC or WWB. Although some people will tell you WWB is fine. The bolt assy. of these takes a little more energy than a handgun so you want some good ammo to properly cycle them. The Special Weapons (what Coharie used to be called) sometimes have a rifle hammer spring which can cause additional resistance to cycling. If you need better cycling then you might consider changing that. A new one costs about $10. Look over here if you want to see which ones you have: http://hkpro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=65232 And check out the sticky threads at the top of this forum. They have excellent information and pictures for dis-assembly and parts identification. Welcome to the disease. There is no known cure... only treatment. |

I'm going shhoting with the guy that sold them to me this week end he told me that they work well I'll test them with WWB, Wolf and PMC 9mm I think Gordon Miller is selling ATI 30 rnd. mags for $15 each. They work great in my SW5 and Coharies. If you need mags, I suggest getting a couple of these to try out and if they work... get a bunch. If he doesn't have any more then you can get them at Aim Surplus for $18 each... I think. Oops, just checked and they are "out of stock". |

They are the latest generation from a company who has a great design for copying the German factory mags. Earlier designs from Korea were not as good. They had the incorrect feed-lip angles and their followers didn't cycle as smoothly. expensive stuff on there check out http://www.hkparts.net/shop/pc/home.asp hkparts.net (Adam Webber) hkspecialist.net (Gordon Miller) robertrtg.com (Robert) All three of these guys have great support and prompt service. Adam and Gordon will talk to you on the phone and help you find whatever you need for your project... and they know what they are talking about. HK stuff is not cheap. In fact, it is just about the most expensive to deal with. But you gotta "pay to play". The MP5 didn't become the best SMG in the world by being cheap. |
