Good luck!! everybody and their brother wants one, they are pretty hard to find, and the ones I've seen for sale were around $150....I refuse to pay that kind of money for what used to be a $15.00 part....If you DO find one and buy it, be prepared for the scratches on the finish from installing/removing.. My PTR dosen't have one and I'm loading the cases I haven't had any problems..

I just purchased a PTR91 and shot it yesterday for the first time.  I noticed the damage to the cases, and was about to start a new posting when I noticed this one.  Can you guys confirm if the damaged cases are "tyipcal", and if this is just a fact-of-life with one of these rifles?

Thanks,

craiger

Yes it seems to be typical of HK91 Cetmes and clones.

Now is this like most Buffers that is made out of plastic or rubber? If so, that is a lot of money for something that probaly took .10 worth of material to make. Heck, I may need to start making parts again

The are made from steel (spring steel I believe) with a rubber bumper/buffer encased in a metal housing.

There is a picture of one on my rifle in the bipod mount thread.

are you talking about the recoil buffer by buffer technology?   they suck in MHO

OIC,

Still doesn't sound that bad but I would need one to tell for sure.

I don't know where you can get one currently.  But this is what your looking for.

It's a tight fit on a HK and will remove the finish if repeatedly taken on and off. It does significantly reduce the denting on fired cases.
