I have a SBR 94 that I put a trigger pack in. It ran well for a while, then it had a few problems. It would not completely dump a mag. It would loose timing and about 20 rounds through the mag, it would leave a small dimple on the primer. I was using a xx hammer. The hammer would only reset .83" from the top of the trigger pack- I think a real mp5 will reset to about .5-6" from the top of the trigger pack. I have been trying to find a re-timed hammer but no luck. Bolt gap is .014" So I quit shooting it because I was tried of dicking with it. I finally tore it apart and got to looking at the hammers. I have the xx models, one that came from a original G3 F/A trigger pack and the one that came with another "sear pack" Looking at them the original G3 trigger had the same location sear notch as the XX hammer, but the second notch was a lot farther back. I put it in to try it and it would not catch the sear. The reason was that the front of the hammer was hitting on the sear causing it to not to catch. So I compared it to the XX hammer and decided to grind the front of the hammer down so the extra hammer material would not hit the sear, but rather catch on the lip of the notch. Ground it down to the same profile of the xx hammer and low and behold it works. I think the notch difference allows the hammer that extra couple of milliseconds to allow the bolt to seat and give a good solid primer hit. No pics right now, I really don't feel like taking it apart for a pic since its a PITA. If you have more than one hammer type, use the hammer pin to line them up and look how they are built. The extra material could be getting in the way of the sear and keep it from catching. Now I get to use my cheap 9mm again. Anyways just thought I would post and see if it would help anyone else out. |
