[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Pinned and welded comp

I am considering purchasing a PTR91 from a local shop that has one in stock. The only thing is, it has a pinned and welded comp on it. How can I turn that into a flash suppressor?

Pretty sure that you can drill out the pin and remove the comp.

will a A1 or A2 birdcage style muzzle device be able to be screwed on after that? Or for that matter, a HK flash hider?

I don't think that a A1 or A2 flash suppressor will work on there. I think that you need to get a HK style flash suppressor. You may want to grab the ser number off it and call JLD and ask them what threads are under that MB. I'm not sure about JLD but some manufactures press fitted MB and then pinned them.

+1, I'd want to make sure that the barrel was threaded before I went to the trouble. If it isn't, you could always get one of I.G.F.'s press-on flashhiders and have it installed. Click here for I.G.F. product.

I papreciate the replies. I thinik I may just have the shop order me the correct PTR 91 from JLD instead of messing with this one.
