I have an original SW5 (Serial number 3x).  I'm familiar with the issues with Special Weapons and Todd but all that aside....

My gun has been a safe queen for years and I have two problems I never got resolved when SW was around.

1.  Extractor problem.  I think this is an extractor spring problem that is common, right?  What do I need to fix it?

2.  My cocking handle rattles.  I've seen others with this and some mentioned having it fixed.  How?

Thanks!

Email him and let him know the problems you are having. If he can squeeze you in...you will have your problems solved. He works wonders with any HK or HK clone.

It might be the extractor spring, extractor, ejector or a combination of the three.
just replace all three and it will work.

It's a crappy plastic copy of the real cocking tube support. It's also not to spec (distance frm the ball detent to the shoulder it too far to hold it tight, thats the reason for the rattle.

wile you are ordering the other parts just get a genuine HK cocking tube support.

Unfortunately, your ejection problem could be a bit more complicated than just those three parts, and the ejector is kind of expensive (around $50).

If it's an early cast receiver SW5 then it probably has a genuine HK91 fire pack w/ an MP5 ejector. This is good because it gives you a trigger pack but you also probably have a .308 hammer spring. You can check that out and replace it easily for about $10. Check this thread to see how.

hkpro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=65232

The extractor springs were also weak in the beginning and you might need to chang that out. About $10 for one of those.

The extractor is about $35 for an HK one.

Possible problems and indications are...

Ejector
Extractor
Hammer Spring
Extractor Spring
Recoil Spring
Locking Piece
Ammo

If you're using cheap ammo, try something hotter and see how your ejections look. The casing should be getting thrown out about 5', if it's good ammo. If it's just barely flipping out about a foot, then you need some more energy delivered to the bolt. Restrictors to that are:

Hammer Spring
Recoil Spring
Locking Piece

Changing to a 9mm hammer spring, or a lighter pull recoil spring, or an SD locking piece can all help to cycle the bolt farther/better. These are experimental things to try and should be potentially compensated for with a buffer of some type.

If you feel like debugging the problem yourself, you can PM me and I'll teach you what I've learned, as I have a 2000 model SW5 with the cast receiver and have it running pretty well now.

I had the same problems with my SW5.  Here's what I did....Replace the extractor with a genuine HK MP5 extractor.  Also replace the extractor spring with genuine HK 9mm extractor spring.  I also only use original HK 9mm curved mags.  Doing that fixed all my feeding and extracting problems.  If you still have some trouble with extractions, You can also beef up the extractor spring to a HK .223/.556 spring.  It is a little more stiff than the 9mm spring and can help if you are still having extraction problems.  Make sure you clean it reguarly too.  The SW5's seem to be a little more finicky when they start getting dirty then compared to an orginal HK.

My SW5A SBR is running fine (serial 5X). Metal receiver.

I did encountered a feeding/ejection problem with my Vector .223 SBR (plastic lower). As soon as I switched from 55gr to 62gr ammo it's functioning perfectly.
