Ok I know about all the problems with special weapons.  However I can't afford a Bobcat and got this instead.  I was wondering if you guys know a good HK gunsmith that I can send it to if I have problems.  I'd like to try to take the rattle out of the charging handle, and replace the ejector and sping for it.  I've heard those are the worst of the part on any HK clones.  For some reason when I got the carbine it had some sand all inside.  One guy said it was brass filings but can't figure out why.  Anyway thanks for taking the time to look at my thread.

My SW-5 is one of the last cast reciever guns and it works.  I have had some issues, I have replaced the lower with a Vector FBI style and I've replaced the extractor spring twice and I busted one ejector but that was my fault when I reshelved the lower mounting point I had it crooked.  The things to check are magwell fit, ejection pattern and fit of the lower.  That said it's my favorite rifle to shoot and I'm seriously considering buying a Cohaire.  As always YMMV.  Regards, Jeff

The magwell fit is nice and snug like I prefer it, not rattle or anything.  Haven't gone out to shoot it yet so not sure how the ejection patterns are gonna be.  The lower is nice and snug as well however I don't like how loose the ambi-selector switch is.  I have a PTR-91k and its lower is darn stiff to move, the way I like it.  Is it possible to get one of those lowers that has all the fire options such as safe, single shot, three round, and full auto but is clipped and mined?

http://www.redrockarms.com/    changed from bobcatweapons

Welcome to Red Rock Arms.com

Bobcat Weapons has changed its public name to Red Rock Arms. Bobcat Weapons, Inc. owns the trademark named "Red Rock Arms". Officially, the corporation is now known as Bobcat Weapons Inc., d.b.a. Red Rock Arms, but will only use Red Rock Arms in the future. The corporation was forced to change due to a conflict with the Clark Company. The Clark Company claims to own the trademarked name "Bobcat" for dirt moving equipment and threatened legal action. Given he circumstances and funds it would require to engage the Clark Company, Bobcat Weapons Inc., decided to settle fo a name change ad commit its financial resources and energy to developing new firearms. We believe this direction better serves our customers. We also believe that our customers will understand the logical choice to change names rather than engage in a lengthy and expensive legal battle.

As many of our customers know from discussions with us, we ended our buisness arrangement with Special Weapons Inc. in January 2006. As a result, Bobcat Weapons Inc. will no longer manufacture the HK94 clone firearms. However, we will continue to provide customer and warranty support. There is still a small quantity BW5 FSA Rifles and BW5 FSA Pistols available.

In September 2005, Bobcat Weapons Inc., began developing an FN FAL designed to fire a .223 cal./5.56 mm from an AR-15 magazine. Beside compatibility with the AR-15 magazine, the receiver is aluminum which lightens the original FN FAL weight to 8.0 lbs.

The new rifle model is ATR1 (American Tactical Rifle 1). The first prototype receiver was tested with just over 10,000 roundsof ammunition. The pre-production receiver has completed testing through just over 12,000 rounds and a number of 5.56 mm military grade prof rounds.

Well many have been asking how is the bobcat different then SW guns, well here it is:

Bobcats are assembled by Cort who is their one and only employee and my gunsmith that I had employeed for 3 years and trained at SW before starting at bobcat 2 years ago, they do not have a welder my welder Mike goes over on fridays and welds each and every gun together. The paint is done by the shop in town we use and using the process we perfected for these guns. All of the parts are SW so when you order a bobcat you get a SW gun with SW parts built by SW people and a bobcat manual.

Bobcat is owned by Andy and I have NO ownership in the business and I have NO say of setting prices over there.

Jayson at IGF can work your SW5, you can change the extractor your self, it's easy. Take out the bolt, get a sharp punch, pull the loop spring straight out the front. The extractor drops right out.

I would try new extractor springs as they are a weak link on these guns.  It did wonders
replacing them with the so called "gold" extractor springs on my SW5.
