i  am in the market for an mp5 clone and i have read some negative things about Bobcat arms, and was wondering what you guys suggest. my buddy at work has a bobcat sbr, and it has done great for him, so should i go verctorarms, vulcan, or the bobcat? or any other brands out there that I don't know about? what do you guys have and how have they performed for you? thanks!

Do not get a vulcan, it doesn't have the hk roller locking system, instead it has an open bolt design which causes to much trauma to the receiver. Special Weapons, Bobcat, and Cohair arms are all the same company, Cohair being your best bet. Vector doesn't make 9mm stuff they get it from Cohair.

I've got a SW MP5 (sear gun).  Initally it ran great, then not.  I started to replace parts but my German bolt carrier wouldn't fit.  Come to find out, all I needed was to shim the pack up a little and now it's back on track!

I've got a Vector (Coharie) .40 MP5.  It ran perfect right out of the box.

But Vector has, IMO,  the best warranty and customer service of any listed.

I have a Bobcat BW5 and after changing out the extractor spring, it works 100%--so I have no issues.  Early on I was concerned, and wished I had spent the extra $ on a HK94, but know I am glad I didn't.  The money saved bought a lot of accessories!

As far as their customer service, I wouldn't know.  I got mine third party (and haven't had any issues that I couldn't fix first).

From my understanding Vectors are of similar quality, but I hear their customer service is better.

As others have said, STAY AWAY FROM VULCAN--that is, unless you just want the look of an HK, and you are very tight on the budget.

Mine was already SBR'd, but I understand that Jayson @ investment grade arms does great refinish work (if needed).

The customer service from bobcat sucks. I ended up talking to the owner. I called to get status on my repair and he ended up calling me back. Since his weapon was doa from the factory to me, i felt he should help in the shipping cost. When I told him this, he told me to ship it ground, which is a violation of UPS policy. I told him I would only ship the way UPS wanted and he got nasty with me. He ended up yelling into the phone at me and when  I asked why he was doing this he hung up on me. Not exectly good customer service. The repair took a bit longer then they said. Since I got the weapon back I have not had any problems, but I am not going to put money is that jerks pocket again.

I got a Vector C89/40 pstol with intent to SBR it...  It arrived with a broken cocking tube support, which I'll blame on shipping...  I sent it back to Vector to fix, which they did, and threw in a 30 rd 223 mag for the effort...  I took it to the range, and no bang...  No primer strikes at all...  I've cleaned the white grease out, lubed it, and we'll see what happens next...  Vector has treated me well in the past, but maybe this receiver is beyond their ability to make work...

I have a BW5-FSA.  Initially, it had a lot of FTE and FTF issues.

I changed out the extractor spring for a much thicker, real H&K one.  I also use only curved mags and shoot Wolf ammo.

It runs like a realy H&K now.

I have had my bobcat for about two years now and after about fourteen hundred rounds the extractor failed. I went a little over board on the repairs and replaced the gun with a new bolt head and gold extractor spring and now the bobcat runs at 100 percent.  A good cleaning and small amount of lube is the secret to this guns operation.  I have never had to call Bobcat for service work so i cannot comment on business relationships after sale.
