What kind of barrels for the PTR-91 are out there.  Does JLD make anything chrome-lined.  What about stainless.  Original HK chrome line barrels fit?  Are they available?

JLD does not offer chrome-lined or stainless steel barrels and,  HK never produced chromed  barrels for any of it's firearms.

So would this be a realistic weapon for field work, say a week out in the elements without any permanent damage?

Many militaries around the globe agree that it is/was good enough for field use.

If you do your part and keep it clean and lubed the rifle will do its part.

The PTR barrels are probably better than HK original G-3 barrels.

Mine has 8-groove rifling which my HK parts kit gun did not. Not that that really means anything, but I thought it was unique.

They're heavy barrels but I wouldn't call them bull barrels.

It will hold up as well as any other in the elements.

PTR is a comercial barrel.

Less chamber flutes ( cheaper to make.)

Not hammer forged ( less lifespan)
