i sould be getting a pretty good profit sharing check from work soon and i've always wanted an MP5. Well i know i can't afford it, so would the experts recommend? I've been browsing www.atlanticfirearms.com Vulcan Vector Bobcat also I what do you think about: .308 .223 9mm Thanks |

What ever you do stay away from the Vulcan!! Have never herd of one that works, but I could be wrong. The Bobcat is a good gun and has a pretty good track record. There have been some problems with them, but most were caused by a bad excractor spring. The only problem I see with Bobcat is they will no longer be making the BW5, as they are no longer in favor with Special Weapons owner, who makes the parts for the BW5. I would say look at Vector if you want a 9mm or 223 gun or JDL if you want a 308 fifle. Vector has been around for long time and has some of the best customer service!!! As far as which gun? I have hk's and clones in all three calibers. The HK's stay in the safe and the clones go th the range. I shoot the 9mm clone made by Jayson at IGF the most. I can shoot it all day long with no ill effect. After 2 or 3 mags of 308 in the 91, my shoulder hurts like hell. But that is more beacuse I am getting older. The 223 is also fun to shoot and almost no recoil. But it does not matter, beacuse once you start buying HK's and ther clones, you never STOP!!! LOL |

Well my main gun is my Para FAL and i was thinking," why not keep the same caliber"...but .308 gets expensive my carry pistol is XD9 so 9mm is less expensive. 9mm option has more expensive mags considering the cope's sale. also the vector .308 carbine is less $. just going off of atlantic firearms. do you guys browse other dealers? |

There are other delers that carry the PTR line, but Alantic firearms is a great company to deal with. I think there prices are as good as you will fine anywere. I think it is all in what you like to shoot, for me it's the HK94 or my clone SW5. As far as the mags go you can't beat the price of G3 mags, $1-3 each depending were you buy them. The Mp5 mags are very expensive but they are built very strong and will last a lifetime if taken care of and cleaned. But like you said 308 ammo is more then 9mm. You will be happy with what ever one you go with. Good luck!! |

If you decide on a .308 gun the PTR91 is the only way to go. However, having said that, I have a PTR91 and FAL and definitely prefer the FAL. Ergonomics better. Less recoil. Bolt hold open on last round. The PTR91 is a nice gun though. If it were my choice - I'd go with an HK94 clone. Very different animal (obviously) but a ton of fun to shoot and great for anything under 25 yards. (Spend an extra $200 to SBR it and you'll want to take it to the range every time you go. Don't know much about Bobcat, but I have dealt with Vector and they have great customer service. However, if you are interested in getting a Vector clone, I'd call immediately. My understanding is that they're making a limited number, and once they're gone, there won't be anymore. |

I just recieved my sw5 from thier latest special. I gave $825.00 which is a pretty good price on a new mp5 clone. I believe they had a few people back out and have 10 or 11 guns left so that might be an option to save you some cash. I took it to the range and put 300rnds of winchester white box through it and had zero failures so it seems like a good one. It is suprisingly accurate out to 60 yards even with cheapo winchester target ammo. My only gripes are that the cocking ram is a little undersized to the tube and rattles a bit and the metal lower had a small amount of up and down play in the front. I replaced the lower with a plastic one and it fits perfect. I prefer to do Business with Vector because they have made every one of my purchases with them perfect but almost a $600.00 savings for a gun built with the same parts was too much to pass up. 70ss396 |
| I have two BW89s that have functioned well. I SBR one of them and placed the short B&T stock on it. This make a very small quick handling little gun. I also have two H&K 94s that are SBRs and a Vector V51. I enjoy the 9mms best. If I were going thru the acquisition mode again I would pick up the 89 first, the 94s second, and then the V51. Thats personal preference of coarse, but you will end up with all of them sooner or later anyway. You might consider the 94 first while they are still "cheap". |

Just like SorenPAL, I'm interested in buying an MP5 clone. I have heard about the reliability issues with some of the clones offered and wanted to get more info on which one you guys think would be the best. When I say best I'm considering reliability, accuracy, finish, and HK parts compatable. If I had the funds I would just purchase a used HK94, but I'm not made of money and my money tree just died. Vector is one of my choices. Bobcat is the other. What would be your choices and why? |

Some friends and I bought 5 of the SW5 guns from Todd's latest group buy. We got them in yesterday and they all look great and all functioned great as well. They don't look as good as my Bobcat, but do look better than any of the other SW5's that I've seen before. YMMV |
| Have been told that there are jaming issues with the SW76, but that is only second hand info. I think your best bet would be a MP5 clone. There are smiths that can work on them if there is a problem. Jayson at IGF is who many of use to work on are clones. Most of the issues's with the clones can be worked out by Jayson and other good HK smiths. |
