What can you guys tell me about this gun other than that it shoots 7.63x39 and uses AK mags?

Would not fire a single round without malfunctioning.

Can't say anymore then that, YMMV.

Always makes me cringe when I see someone mention SPesHul WePunZ in the HK forums.

That’s fine, but how about some useful information please.

OK-SW sucks and I wouldn't take anything they make for free.  The owner is a loudmouthed con artist, and their guns are made out of pot metal and are completely out of spec.  That's the most useful piece of information about SpEshUL WepUnZ.

Ok before this turns into another SW pissing contest let me tell you why I am interested in it, I will be getting an HK sear and I though it might be a fun to spray some AK ammo with it. However I know nothing about this gun and am well aware of SW's reputation. I realize their quality is really hit or miss and I would be taking a chance buying this gun, but would like to hear from someone who knows something about this gun (thanks Hallmark). Now does anyone else have anything else they can tell me about it, like maybe what the hell is the X upgrade?

Basically, the 'X' upgrade was to make the things actually work like they were originally advertised to.  The tradeoff, from everyone I know who bought one, is horrendous recoil.

I seen one blow up.

I solved the recoil on mine by using a Buffer Tech recoil buffer, an HK-33 stock and an HK21/23 buttpad. It works well enough for me, but Todd said that it would eventually break and that he's in the process of developing a two stage buffer for it so I'm waiting to see what happens with that. The rifle also seems to prefer the Polish synthetic mags as I've had excellent results using them while I've gotten a few FTF's with the metal ones. Other than that, I haven't had any other problems after the "X" upgrade so I'd say go for it. Just try out the same thing I did for the recoil problem and have fun. And as I understand it, they have a high rate of fire in full auto so just make sure you have plenty of ammo with you.

The 'X' upgrade is a new trunnion and FA carrier.  If you get one, replace every part you can with a G3 part, especially the locking piece. Todd ground the living shit out of his making the gun unlock too early, re: EXCESSIVE RECOIL.

Would a G3K locking piece be worth trying out?

Well.. it's a definiate maybe,  I think it's more on a 'gun to gun' basis.  From what I've seen of these guns,  the tolerances are all over the board and, I know of three that went KaBlooey.

YMMV

Ah, so the guy who said he saw one blow up wasn't just joking around.  Can you provide any details?  I've heard that the guns don't work or have horrible recoil, but I never heard about any blowing up.  I'd really like to know the reasons them, I've seen very few HK type KBs, all with clones.

On the one I saw it appeared that the round detonated before being fully seated. Blew the bottom completely out of the mag, expanded mag well and, broke the plastic lower to pieces.  I suspect the others suffered a similar fate.

Yes, it was Chad's gun.

Alright, I have one, and here is my experience with it.  After the "X" upgrade it has been 100%, I have never run mine in FA so I can't tell you how they run, but I've read that they are pretty fast.  Jimtash is correct in that they run best with the Polish synthetic mags.  Recoil with out the 33 stock and the 21/23 buttpad is pretty close to a 51, not real pleasant, but then I'm a pretty small guy too.
Yes, it needs that 2-stage buffer, if it ever appears.

I have one, and it runs great! I have a Fleming sear pack that I run on it for full-auto. It runs with the plastic Polish magazines and most, steel 30 and 40 round magazines. I do not know if mine has had the X upgrade. I am the second owner. All of the internals are original H&K marked carrier, bolt, locking PC. The recoil spring assembly has an odd clear plastic hose on it acting as a buffer. It appears to work! I have shot the piss out of it in full-auto mag dumps. I have an original H&K HK53 A3 stock on it as well. Mine also has the full magazine well on it, so no drum magazines will fit. I have both the Vector 51 and 53, and the SW52 runs just as well in F/A and S/A. I would say that the recoil is in between the 53 and 51. Hope this helps.
