SW5 Receiver - AR15.COM

Is there anywhere else I can get a SW5 receiver from other than Top-Notch?

I really don't want to use them but, if no one else has them, I'll have to order from them.

Does anyone have the Top-Notch phone number?

You just missed out on the Group Buy for SW5 stamped receivers from XtremeFirearms. You can try contacting and see if he has any extras. He was a great guy to talk to.

I got 2 but I'm trying to figure out if I want the second one.

I didn't see anything other than the RF5 group buy on ARFCOM.

I've sent and received many of emails from him at that address.

Top Notch, currently has the cast receiver on their website. Supposively SW was only going to produce 500 more of the stamped receivers.

The benefit of having a stamped receiver versus a cast one is that the stamped is lighter than the cast. It also mirrors the “real” MP5 closer than the cast, since the actual MP5 is a stamped receiver. I believe the stamped fits the A3 stock better than the cast. Also the stamped receiver is the latest generation of the receiver, meaning all of the improvments are already on the receiver, for example the sling hook. Also when you go to put a finish on the receiver the stamped looks better since it will be a smooth finish as opposed to a little more grainier finish that the cast has.

There is one benefit of the cast over a stamped, the cast will probably out last all of us. The cast receiver is built like a brick Xhithouse. It’s probably one of the strongest receivers made. There is a machine gun rental place in NV that has been using a cast receiver SW5 and it’s probably got over 200,000 rounds through it. It’s been back to SW for new barrels a few times and the barrels they use are rated for something like 60K rounds.

ETA: The stamped are more expensive than the cast receivers. There wasn't much "advertising" for the group buy on the SW receivers on here because most people are so ANTI-SW. If found out about it from another board member.

If I decide to sell the second receiver, I'll give you first priority on it.

If you can find one, go with the stamped receiver. They end up looking much nicer when finished and weigh a little less than the cast receivers.

Sending an email is too hard? Building up an HK clone isn't exactly the fastest build you can engage in thats for sure.

Sending an email is too hard? Building up an HK clone isn't exactly the fastest build you can engage in thats for sure.

I'll wait and see what happens...

I don't have a parts kit either - building it is going to be a lot of trouble when I could just settle with a Vector 53 SBR and avoid this headache.

I'd only have to replace a few parts to make the 53 look authentic...

Me neither, thats why I have other projects to keep me going. Right now the receivers have been hard to come by. I can find parts for it later.(maybe)
