I see talk of clipped and pinned lowers, what is it and why does everybody do it? Bryan |
Clipping: Semi auto receivers for HK91/93/94 have a "shelf" welded to the area where the pivot push pin on a full auto lower would normally go on a full auto receiver, this shelf prevents installation of a standard full auto lower to a semi auto receiver. "Clipping refers to the modification required in order to fit a FA lower onto a semi auto receiver, either by completely cut off the push pin ears (factory method), or shaving off enough material from the lower in order for the gap to be wide enough to slip over the shelf. Pinning: It makes a modified lower look like a real "push pin" lower by cutting each end off of a real push pin and gluing (or silver solder) the ends to the push pin holes on each side of the lower. This is done only for cosmetic purposes. |
