I sent in my Form 1 to SBR my USC / UMP clone to the ATF on Feb. 17th and I just noticed that they have cashed my check I sent along with it ... does that mean my application has been approved and I'm just waiting for the paperwork to be sent to me?

Anyone have experience with this and know what the time frame is from check cashed to papers in hand?

Nope - your not approved yet.  Not even close.

It can take a while even after the check is cash for it to even be entered into their system.  My last transfer took almost a month from the time the check cashed to the time it was listed as "pending" in their system.  Call the NFA Branch (202-927-8330) and check the status of your transfer.  It'll probably be "pending".  From the time it goes pending to the time its approved is usually 90-120 days. After it is approved it can take another week or two to get mailed out and in your hands.

Yup, you still have a wait.
Sent mine in March 9th, 2004.
Went pending April 13, 2004.
Did not receive approval until October 2004, 6 months after it went pending.

The above input is accurate having recently completed the process myself. Another concern that you may want to work out is the marking requirements on the housing. Since it is a polymer, the usual technics (high speed routing) don't work since the polymer rewelds behind the cutter. I had to find a place that could use a laser and they needed material to get the settings correct.
