was just wondering how the XM8 optics are in comparison to the G36. I have the 3.5x carryhandle for my SL8-4, the field of view is limited to say the least, specialy when I am used to the elcan for my service rifle. I wonder if they have improved on it for the XM8. the pics I have seen, it looks to have a bigger objective lens on it. thanks,

I heard it was a red dot. They claim it does not need to be zeroed

From what I saw on "Mail Call" on Monday, it's a Red Dot sight. As Combat_Jack said, HK says that it need no zeroing, which I find that hard to believe.

The XM-8 has back-up iron sights that flip up if the Red Dot goes tits up...

XM8

You guys have all seen this.  The XM8 optics are now better than the G36's.  The objective is now bigger and it uses a red dot reticle.  It is factory zeroed and mounted to the body, so it does retain the zero if taken off and remounted.

The DM comes with the 4x opitc...

...emm...not much else.

so then we should not be comparing it to the G36 carryhandle then. more like the aimpoint.
for some reason I was under the impression that it was not a red dot. I gues I'm just used to my Elcan. thanks for the info all and keep it rolling in if you have something to add.

That's good, after the complaints about the g36 set up on HKPro.

The only real complaint is that the aperature is way, way to small to be used effectively.  The XM8's is much larger, about the same as regualr red dot scope.
