Good or bad?

Hi there! This is my first post on ar15, looks to be a great board! Let me offer my (admittidly biased) .02 worth on the Vector HK Clones.
It just so happens that I am the guy who builds them.I have been the "HK guy" at Vector for the last several months as we get the project up and running.
AS one would expect, we have had some hang ups and issues, but this is par for the course any time you undertake a new project.
But our reputation for service and quality on the Group Industries Uzi project will continue- bottom line is these weapons are covered under an unconditional lifetime warranty- if there is a problem- we will fix it free.Period.
I hope that the moderators here arent too bent out of shape by this posting- my intent is not to get free advertising for Vector, but rather to offer my services on any questions anyone might have on our HK clones.

When is Vector going to offer V93? In shotgun news it says they are coming, if you have some please post some pics, closeups.  Also any ideas if you guys might be making a HK94 clone?
Thanks

Good. I would hate to have to throw you in the pit being a new guy and all!
If down the road you are interested in advertising..contact Kevin,Stokes or Aimless. They will help you with anything you need.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! to answer your questions, the 93's are a coming project. We have built a few, (about a half dozen so far), but right now our hang up is the full length US made barrels. They will soon be availible. I will take some photos on Monday and post them, meantime there is a great photo in the Jan/Feb issue of Small arms review, in the column titled "sneak peak at the creek".
As far as 94's, they have been dicussed, as have 54's, but nothing definate has been decided.
thanks again!

BTW: Welcome to the board!!!  As for the HK94 clone, I think that everyone and some moms too wants that HK more than anyother.  Looking forward to your V93 when they come around.

Are these receivers made on HK tooling, or are they reverse engineered?

What he said.  Also will it have the navy style lower like in SAR or the SEF lower for 1050?
1/3/2004 7:57:56 PM EDT
[#16]
We are buying a few of the parts from SW those being the receivers, the Navy lowers and on the 53 the MP5 foregrip. Everything else we are either having made ourselves or are getting from German G-33 parts kits. The majority of the parts come from the parts kits.
They are being built with the two position Navy lowers, we do have a few SEFs around but are not generally using them.
Also I should note that in the photos shown, the 53 is still sporting the aluminum "Fake Supressor" style barrel extension. We are no longer using these but have gone to a steel "compensator" type barrel extension that is much smaller diameter(around 3/4 inch), and instead of the slot in the side has six holes drilled in it. It is, IMHO, much better looking than that lame fake supressor! These photos dont really show the slot milled in the old aluminum extensions, what we found was that the fake suppressor created a vortex in the inner chamber and caused the bullets to tumble and milling a 3/8 wide by 3" or so long slot in the side solved the problem, but was REALLY ugly! What is the point in having somthing "look" like a suppressor with a big slot in the side?
Of course, you could just get a registered SBR and have a standard fake flash hider on it.
Honestly, in my opinion, if you dont want to go the SBR route, IMHO you are better off with a 93, if you must have the "barrel length" to satisfy the legal requirements, why not have rifling?
I know that information on supressors and lowers seems to contradict what some of you may have read in Shotgun news, there were some goofs in the add which will hopfully soon be cleared up.
I am not sure if the receivers are made on HK tooling, I know that they are made under license form HK, I will find out more on that and let y'all know.
Thanks for all the great comments, keep the qeustions coming!!!

Is it possible to get a 53 with a full length barrel and add a fake supressor over it?  I like the look of the 53 over the 33/93, but don't want or need the slots or 6-hole brake.  I would rather have a full lenght barrel with the rifling all the way to the end and just add a fake can to make it look better and avoid the long-skinny-barrel look.  Is that something you guys can do?  Thanks.

Hello again,First I need to correct an answer i have given to a previous question,When I said that we were buying our receivers from SW.Actually, our receievers are being made in the same plant that is making SW's new MP5 receivers. Please forgive my goof, I am the guy in shop and I am not involved in any of the billing or ordering of parts and alot of the time I dont really know what is going on up front...
I cannot give you a solid date on the 93's, we are still waiting on the new US made barrels and we dont really know how long they will take.

"Actually, our receievers are being made in the same plant that is making SW's new MP5 receivers".
Alright so you have an in with the manufacture!  POF is making hk94 kits for sale for ,I think, $475.  All ya need is so US parts and a trigger pack lower and you have the new V94.

Unless Todd has something to say about that... but then he is out of the civilian market right?
1/7/2004 7:09:15 PM EDT
[#24]
I doubt Todd is going to trash his tooling.  He says he is going out of the civie market but then Bobcatarms appears with the same address as SW. If properly built there is nothing wrong with these receivers.  They are actually better then alot of the receivers out there.  Jayson at IGF built me a 94 clone using a SW parts.  It was actually the first one that he built using a the sheet metal receiver.  My receiver has a single digit number the first month they were made. Over 4000 rounds without a FTF or FTE. Vector seems to take pride in their guns and should make a nice functional rifle.

Is the fake suppressor removable? any pics of one w/the compensator instead of the fake "can".

I can help alittle

This is how they come, note the fake suppressor.

The 1st thing i did to it was take off the fake can and put a HK flash hider on it.

Then i put the sliding stock and his MP5 trigger group on it , then we went shooting!!!

I shot a v53 on Sunday and was very impressed.  Comparing it to my new SW52 it was much lighter in weight and had much lower recoil (nearly like an SW5).  I'd buy one in a heartbeat.  My SW52 shot pretty reliably and accurately also by the way.

Hello again sorry i havent posted for awhile ive been going absolutly nuts at work and just havent had time. Appreciate the comments and cool photos, and I know that you all probably know this, but I should warn you that the ONLY way to legally install a real flash hider and or folding stock on one of our V53's is to also install a registered full auto lower or sear. Even if you register it as an SBR, it is still illegal to put a flash hider on it as you are then creating a new "assault weapon". I dont much like the looks of the fake suppressor, myself, but it is BATF approved. We can replace it with one of the new steel compensators, which imho looks a lot better.

Me too. Maybe in 10mm, after the ban expires?

Panslayer, those are sear guns, LarryG36 is an SOT.

I would buy one, if I could legally have an SBR. Otherwise, I dont see the point. My next purchase will probably be a 6.5 ar upper with an 11 inch fake can. The price is right.

Panslayer...if you can't give an exact date for the V93 can you at least give us a guestimate?  Price estimate?
