The process was long and pricey but worth it. My rifle is really sweet and I wouldn't trade it for anything. And firing is a dream... If you've got the cash, go for it.

I saw one that Steve @ Adco Firearms put together. Wow.

Not sure what the price came out to be, but it wasn't cheap.

"Worth it" is an individual thing. If its what you want, and you have the cash, then its probably worth it to you. When I finished the one pictured above I thought I was going to keep it because it was REALLY cool. After couple days I realized it was over $2K, and it wasnt "worth it" to me.

I guess what I'm waiting to hear is that they work reliably? Not something I have to "tinker" with with.

There is no guaranty of reliability. You are starting with a perfectly functioning rifle, and heavily modifying it for no other reason than aesthetics. You're swapping in a different bolt, grinding out the mag well....

This isnt a project you do for a serious shooter, its something you do for fun. Odds are everything will be ok, but no guaranty.

I finally got my to work like a champ. 3000 dollars plus the gun later.

I do agree with Big bore, it is not worth it but if you got the cash to burn, it is definitely fun to have one.

I have a used SL8 ready to be converted.
I have pictures.  Start with this gun (save money over buying new) and add magwell conversion and stock conversion.  I have my converted SL8 and don't need this one.  E-mail me for pictures

Hk is thinking or planing 2 build a factory in the us within the next 18 months. After the aw ban dies those converted sl-8 will be the like the new models that THEY MAY BE MANUFACTURING in the USA!!! The buzz is that there are no more to be made. The sl-8 itself is an americian gun made for americians. The international version which spawned the sl-8 resembles the converted weapons that you see in the pictures above. I would wait on it, an sl-8 as of now has investment value and 10-15 years from now they will be worth quiet a bunch. To spend thousands on a conversion to make it an assult weapon and then having to convert it to preban is a pain if you ask me its a hold.If they do begin to manufacture in the USA you just wasted a bundle. I am not cheap not self respecting gun owner is. I know a guy who does the mag well and dyes it black for around 1450 which is a steal. They are great weapons, they can be made to look very nice but in my OPINION there are better things to buy.

I love mine, I realy dont shoot it that much, its our barrel conv. demo gun.

AREA51 GUNS/THE ARMS ROOM's SL8K Demo gun.

Last SL8K we did.

Last SL8C we did,
couldnt cut his barrel to the 8in C length, he's not 21 yet, 1st gun he's going to SBR next year, then i'll be able to cut and thread it.
Top is my G36C, Bottom is a SL8C w/16in barrel

Yes,its fairly expensive, but if you love the G36 family its worth it.

N.I.B SL8s go for around a GRAND.

K or C Barrel conv are $325,, QCB or E w/bayonet lug Barrel convs are $195

Todd is charging $600. for the MAG/STOCK conv.

$50 to do the DYING.

$65 instal MAG conv.

I think Phil/Greg is charging $200 now to cut Todd's stocks.

Then add in some S/H

HK Dual Optic $600.

You're looking at around $2500 to $2900 bucks.
