Getting started on putting together my "ultimate" FAL build, which is going to include both fixed and folding-butt lower assemblies (and associated bolt carriers, top covers, return springs, etc.).  Just got some parts in from Belgium today and won some parts in an auction a few weeks ago.  Pictured are an FN hiduminium Type 1 lower receiver with a stepped hiduminium return spring tube; an FN hiduminium Type 1 Para lower receiver with the FCG (sans selector), frame lock assembly, and a hiduminium stock bolt and trigger guard; and an FN hiduminium charger guide top cover.  Next will be a StG-58 parts kit, a couple of sets of Hythe rear sights, the Para components, and some other parts as well as a Type 1 upper receiver.  I'm hoping to get this together by December (not including refinishing).

I was rummaging through some storage bins looking for a Lyman receiver sight. I found a tub with I think 95% of the parts for a build. I also have a Hesse receiver that looks to be in spec. The STG kit taken off it wasn't ground on and neither is the receiver. It ran fine and head spaced OK.

I put the matching parts kit on a DS Arms receiver i bought years ago.

The parts are a big mismatch. Barrel is a 16 inch DSA with the intergrated muzzle brake..

I'll take some pictures when I get a chance.

I'm very particular about what I want as far as a StG-58 kit goes, and at this point In time I may end up having to settle for something less, but ideally I'd like a complete, numbers-matching Steyr kit in excellent or better condition (like the high serial number kits).  As much as some regard it as sacrilege, I do intend to have the barrel shortened to 436mm (~17.17").  I'll be using a combo device for the FN SAW Para instead of the Stoll device or the standard FAL combo device to reduce weight.

What I'm really trying to find right now are a good all-hiduminium FN folding stock assembly (provided the price isn't too much over the rice of a new DSA stock assembly, which is what I'll probably have to end up buying) and certain hiduminium/alloy parts, such as the return spring tube plug, a trigger guard (standard pattern), and a rear swivel base.  I also intend to use Hythe rear sights and need two sets.  I also would be interested in L2A1 selectors if they wouldn't be too expensive and can actually be found, but I'll probably end up getting the DSA inch-style semi-auto selectors for metric rifles.
