[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Coonan, custom serial # question

If anyones done a custom serial number, does it cost extra and is it more proper to go with a number matching your lower kit or your bolt/ carrier group. Do dsa aluminum lowers have any numbers on them if I ever switched out a lower.

It's a personal thing if you want to do it or not. I just finished an Argentine kit with a Coonan receiver. I ordered mine with the custom number to go along with my matching lower, bolt and carrier. I don't remember what the extra cost was but it wasn't much. I can't get to my invoice until tomorrow to check the exact cost.

I don't have any idea on the DSA lowers but my guess is no.

Thanks for the info, I suppose aesthetically it would look better if the receiver matched the lower, on the Imbel kits I got I've got matching bolts and carriers but not matching lower. I'll just have to see if the cost is worth it to make it look matched

IMO, it rounds out the build, not necessary, but nice to have if the option is available.

Looking at my invoice it was $324.95 plus $35.00 for custom serial number. If your a member of FalFiles you get a $25.00 discount too.

I've been thinking about this for a while and think I will order one of the Coonans with custom serial # for my daughter. I have her first name and birth date (numerical) as the custom serial # on an AR receiver, AK receiver and a pink Bowers .22 Paradigm suppressor so a FAL would be a nice addition for when she gets older.

If you have a matching kit, it always makes it that much more special especially given the option to do so. I had a mis-matched imbel kit and decided to go for a regular serial since it had nothing to match

it gets to me FFL today. It was a long 8 week wait.
