could go either way. i am no fal expert ,but this is what i gather.
if it is an imbel upper receiver, that was worth around $400 pre panic. the rest is probably inch ,and if in good shape worth at least $500 parted out. you will need pics and experts to confirm. if it runs then i'd say 1k isn't bad in todays money. if century messed something up you can still part it out or fix it and learn a lot. let me know if you find some cheep ammo |

The gun is metric pattern and that's a good thing. You can identify this by the lower trigger frame and the gas block. Additionally it looks like it has been shot a fare amount, this as well is good thing. It means it runs. I would simply check the headspace, buy some ammo and have good time shooting.
Thanks, Mike eta. What does the front of the magazines look like? If they have small beak at the front there metric. If they have an ak type notch, there inch. |

That rifle looks like a kit gun. That is not a bad thing so long as it runs and has proper head space. The butt stock appears to be South African, the pistol grip is Century, and the hand guards are Penguin. The upper receiver was made by IMBEL and if it hasn't been bubba'd, it is an excellent receiver. Century built some rifles with these receivers and sold them stripped to hobbyist and other type 7 FFL holders. So, the markings are irrelevant in regard to who built it. There are 3 U S made parts of the 17 eveil parts on an F A L. So more than likely it is 922R compliant. ( As the purchaser, this is meaningless to you as 922R only applies to the builder) If you take the hand guards off and take pics of the marking on the left side we can tell you where the barrel was made. A pic of the left side of the lower could also reveal its origin. In any event, from what I can see, you have a solid rifle. However, it is possible that the brass kisses on the dust cover were made before the barrel was cut and the resulting jamomatic may be why it was sold. |

It is a Steyr made barrel and was an arsenal replacement for the original factory barrel for the rifle when it was still in service. Steyr barrels are the finest FAL barrels ever made and unless yours has been damaged, worn out, or has a bad crown, it should be a great shooter. The rest of the kit appears to be from the same rifle. It has a Century made trigger. More than likely the sear and hammer are century too. Century triggers are fine, but the sears and hammers have a less than stellar reputation. |

| Was also wondering what other type of flash supressor would fit on this rifle instead of the a2 style? I dont like the A2 style flash, would much rather have a short belgium one. would the experts know what types of other flash hiders would fit on this? Thanks Wes |
| FALs had different thread pitches, so it would be a good idea to find out which your rifle has before purchasing a new muzzle device. They are usually seen with either left or right-handed threads, or someone may have threaded your barrel specifically for the A2 f/h you have. |

Had a gunsmith check out the FAL, said everything looked good and that the headspace was pefect. So i bought 300rds of 7.62 and was going to go shooting and have some fun, but we are going to get a blizzard tonight and all day tomorrow. Have not had any snow all damn year, now we are going to get a foot of snow. |

Very NICE!
yep, check those muzzle threads. Could be the A2 muzzle device was threaded for the 9/16-24 left hand thread pitch vs rethreading the barrel but you'll have to remove the device to know. Which way does it screw off? Hopefully, it's not silver soldered or pinned. Imbel on Imbel with StG barrel? Pure WIN! |
