First off I have read the warnings from dsa about not using steel cased ammo blah blah blah. Is this really any issue? I have about 60 rounds of silver bear 308 fmj that I would like to shoot through my fal (dsa Stg 58) before shooting up my very small and at the moment unreplenishable supply of brass cased 7.62 NATO. I have probably close to 1000 rounds of various steel cased commie rounds through my Franken ar with no issues other than a little dirty and feels slightly under powered. All I shoot through my 7.62 and 5.56 AK is steel cased ammo although theses were designed for it I'm not seeing the issue with shooting this ammo out of my fal and I'm hoping its just a cover ther ass move my dsa.

So what do you guys think any one shoot alot of this through ther fals? Is my rifle about to gernade it's self when I pull the trigger?

I've never heard of problems with Silver Bear in FALs. Most of the 'kabooms' I've read about have been with Tula/Wolf .308, but that's no guarantee that there won't be problems. Lots of shooters have shot lots and lots of Silver Bear in FALs with no problems, so if it was my ammo I'd shoot it. If Russian steel case was still .15-.20/rd I'd buy all of it I can afford. As it stands now, it's too expensive for what it is for me to spend money on it, so I carefully shoot what little surplus ammo I have left.

In the extremely unlikely even that you do have a problem, you may not want to support the rifle using the bottom of the mag. In the event of a case head separation the gases are usually vented through the mag, which blows the internals and floorplate off and bows the mag body outward. It's been known to happen with surplus brass ammo, so don't think I'm picking on steel cased stuff.

This is what my fal looks like( not my pic)  I bary know anything about it I believe it is a Stg 58 made by DSA with a vortex looking flash hider bipod and either 16 or 18" barrel  and shooting a full size battle rifke is fucking awesome! I picked it up about feb 2011 put 60 rounds through it and left it for safe keeping at my parents house and haven't touched it since I'm heading home on leave in a week and hopefully put some rounds through it

You have a really nice rifle that would be very expensive to replace right now.

I would not shoot any Russian steel case ammo at all.

Like my doctor says- "suture self"
Why the hell do folks spend tons of dough on quality firearms and then shoot the cheapest, crappy ammo they can find through them?

Russian steel cased ammo isn't my first choice by far but I couldn't pass it up gun store had a close out of it a few months ago and I only paid $6 a box iirc so I bought 60 rounds I cannot find any brass cased ammo anywhere that isn't over $1 round and I refuse to pay that much unless its self defense or hunting ammo
