Kit assembled on an Inch Imbel receiver. I'll probably repark the whole thing, but haven't decided if I'm going to refinish the wood or not.

David,
NICE looking gun. That's what I'm looking for.
What does a kit like that cost and how much to put it together(if you don't mind me asking)?

The kit was $240 (you can get kits for as little as $99 for more common metric rifles), figure another $70-$100 for US compliance parts, $170-$350 for a receiver, $125 to have somebody good assemble, about the same to get it refinished if necessary.

You know, it looks pretty good just as she sits.  Like it has seen some real use and is ready to rock n' roll!  I have a STG58 type and the wood really gives your L1A1 a whole different dow-to-earth look.  I like it!

I like my StG-58, too

Sweeeeet looking rifle David.  I was looking at
a Cetme but now I am spoiled.  Is there any difference in parts availability between the
Metric and Inch verions?

Right now parts availability is about the same, though inexpensive ($250) metric receivers are easier to find than actual Inch receivers. Complete Inch parts kits (as opposed to just parts) are also harder to find.

NIW Metric magazines can be found for $8; new Inch mags are hard to find. Used mags for both go for $4-$5.

The CETME is pretty nice too. Mine is one of the early rifles built from unissued parts on the cast stainless steel reeiver. It cost me about $200 more than the current crop of very used parts guns, but I think it was worth it. J&G sales has the current CETME on sale for $269 at the moment; at that price i was thinking about getting another one to use as a shooter and keep this one as clean as possible.
