www.gunthings.com has the inch version. Will also need the spring and pin from the inch version to work on the metric receiver.

Slocat on the FAL Files offers extended checkered pieces for $50 I think. An L1A1 release will work but you'll also need to use an inch spring.

The ones that Slocat uses are here, they're just not checkered:

Gunplumber  from ARS makes a beautiful checkered extended FAL mag release for $45.  I put one on my DSA and love it.

I think he just buys his from Slocat if I'm not mistaken. But yes, they're very nice.

As a lefty, I like the L1A1 on my metric fal. You can still get by using the metric spring. You can just toss in a ball bearing to make up for the needed tension. Makes releasing mags a cinch with my right hand and I could use my left index finger to release (but I prefer using my right hand). The trade off is the the bolt hold open lever is a tad buried in and not as easy to engage.

I have a inch receiver and bought a metric release from PRB. While it fit and felt nice I did not have a metric spring. I couldn't find one so I bought a inch and shortened it a little. After all that I decided I liked the original better and have the other one sitting around in a box somewhere. I am right handed so I do not know about lefties.
