Got another problem with my DSA FAL....I just got it back from DSA for a sight problem. Was at my range trying out the new sights to see if it would zero for me when i noticed that the bolt wouldnt lock back after last rnd was fired.  I went through the gas regulator adjustment procedure 5 times and i couldnt even get the rifle to short stroke and not eject. Today i went back with 5 new, never been used,DSA mags thinking it was the mag.  Same thing....tried bulk by ammo,Rem cor-lokt,Win cheap shit, blackhills......any ideas? Dont want to have to send back...hope its something im doing.

is the follower pushin up on the pin in the bolt lock. i would check that. the pin might have been too short for that mag.

Checking the pin on the BHO would be the first place to look. Will the BHO work if you manually engage it?

I would also not use DSA mags to test anything. They suck, or at least they used to.  Find A good surplus mag.

The bho looks like it is working to me. And i watched in the chamber as i slowly pulled bolt back to see if mag caused bho to push up and it did. As far as the DSA mags sucking, I dont know man, theyve been working so far. It locked back everytime before i sent gun back. Thay rebarreled the gun while it was there for some reason.(I sent it back because of sight prob.) Could that have f'd something up?
Im starting to think i could have spent that 3k on something else!

check the alignment of the piston tube if it is the short one it could be off. my carbines tube was off and it was causing the piston to slow down from the dragging on one side. i would check there.

Have you tried any non-DSA, original military-production magazines such as Steyr, IMBEL, Israeli, etc.?

no, have not tried any other mags...dont have any. I will try to find some. Talked to DSA today and they said Mike(i guess a gunsmith) would call me back after reviewing what was done to my rifle when they had it a couple of weeks ago.  Everything worked fine when i sent it...just the sights had to be changed. For some reason they changed out the barrel and did some other shit...why is beyond me. Anyways i will look down the gas tube and see if it is scrapeing like was suggested. Thanks for the info guys!

Most likely It has nothing to do with your gas tube or piston. If your gun is cycling fine it's a magazine/follower issue or a bolt hold open issue.

Take the top cover off and reassemble (you do this so you can see what's going on), insert empty magazine and pull back the cocking handle, does the bolt lock back?
Some mags have a faulty follower and the tab that is supposed to engage the bolt hold open pin isn't long enough or sits to far to one side to contact the pin.

I think that that is probably your problem.

Try looking aat  the loccking should pin aand see if it is broken or has soomething wroong in this area. Aalso try cclear the gas system. Campbell

If the bolt isn't holding open on the last round either you have a bad magazine, bad BHO or an inch BHO.

Surplus FAL BHO's are known to wear and not hold the bolt open.

My advice is to stop consulting this website and contact DSA. This is a simple problem being arfcommed.

And yet another of life's paradoxes –––––––––– should the OP actually heed this post and disregard it as recommended by P73 and/or press on...?

Finally!! After a week of TRYING to get a gunsmith from DSA to call me back I get a return call. Guy listens to my problem and says he will send me a new BHO(part?) Says its easy to install, so we will see if that fixes problem.
