Where are they? On my shelves It's sadly true in the grand scheme of things I think. There were huge numbers of surplus mags on the market at low prices and people bought them up in large quantities (like me), then the surplus mags ran dry. Nobody had needed to make FAL mags for decades. |

I am in the final processes of making polymer US made 20 round FAL mags.
Here is a link to a thread about them. http://www.falfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=285655 Here is a link to a video testing the magazine. US made polymer FAL magazine video |

US made polymer FAL magazine video I, like others FAL lovers, have been following the progress of the mags and Moses is doing it right. He hasn't just rushed a product out to the market just so there is a new FAL mag to purchase. I think once these are done people are going to be impressed. By the looks the current state of development it really shouldn't be too much longer. IMO they will be worth the wait. Put your name on the waiting list and they'll be a new, quality FAL mag to be had shortly. |

|
I haven't done a pre order, I am contemplating doing one but I will only do it once I have approved the final production mag if I do a pre order.
This is to prevent any unforseen problems that might happen that would delay delivery of the mags to the customers. Been working with the enginner this week finalizing the final changes to the mold to get everything just like I want it. Hopefully I will be getting some proto types of mags made with these changes in the next 2 to 3 weeks, just depends on how long it takes the Mold company to complete the changes. The good news is we are close and the first proto type proved that the basic design of the magazine is sound and functions. I am just as excited about this as you guys!!! My initial reason for lookig into making these is that I wanted a high quality US made polymer FAL mag and after several calls to Magpul over the years they convinced me they were not going to do it so if I wanted one I was gonna have to make them myself. |

Mine are a little tight on fit but they lock the bolt back. I loaded all off them today and will try them out next week. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile This is my current status. They all fit tight, and after a few insertions, got better. I think the thick and rough phosphate finish on the mags may impede the follower, so I loaded and unloaded the mags multiple times, to cause the friction of the mag follower to smooth out some of the interior of the mags. The followers did get a little smoother, without wasting any ammo. They sit loaded with 20 rounds, and will see if my efforts were worth it this weekend. |

I'm no machinist, but how hard is it really to reverse engineer a magazine? If we can bend our own flats into AKs, I would think a mag would be plenty easier. What am I missing? Try it...and then you will know.
Heck I am prototyping something WAY simpler than a mag and it is a PITA and the tooling costs for inj-molding are pretty impressive. |

Please post a link . |

No waiting list, probably still a month or two before I have them for sale.
Molders are finishing up on the revisions to the mold I had them make, then I will be testing them. When I give final approval they will start mass production. Should be doing at least 2000 the first run, if demand seems higher I will do more. Subsequent runs should only take a few weeks if needed. Thanks for your interest. |

Thanks for your interest. There seem to be more and more people looking for quality FAL mags, I think you'll easily sell 2000 of them. I missed the super cheap and plentiful surplus, I wasn't into FALs when they were around. My mags consist of little to no finish beat up surplus and less than perfect Korean mags. I need some of the good stuff, and I know I'm not the only one. Do you have a ballpark price yet? |
|
J&G Sales is advertising Metric Mags for $19.95. I talked to a guy at work who just got some, he said the ones he got were in good shape.
There's an ad on Gunbroker (under semi auto rifle, FAL), a guy is selling 150 Austrian made FAL mags. He's taking bids on small lots, as an example he said 3 for $9.00. |
|
The mags I ordered from Apex a few months ago were pretty beat up, very little finish etc. Two were deformed and wouldn't hold rounds. I think the bottom of the surplus barrel has been reached. |

That price sounds great. Hope to see them soon. Since I have a nice new plastic rifle that takes FAL magazines, it will be nice to have new plastic mags to go with it. Perhaps you can get KelTec to ship your parts with new guns, instead of used izzys with sand still inside... |

Well since there are what about 2000 RFB rifles in play and probably 100,000 FAL rilfes in cilvilian hands in the USA, I made the mag to fit FAL magwells. I also made the outer apperance to match the FAL receiver.
I am an FAL man at heart and wanted a mag that looked really good in the FAL and worked in an FAL first and foremost. Kinda like the magpul PMAGS don't fit some of the european 223 rifles so they made the EMAG. I have plans to make a 26 rd mag and I am gonna make it to fit the RFB and LAR-8 as well as the FAL. If my mag doesn't work because of a defect not caused by abuse or poor dremel work hell yeah I will stand behind my magazine!!!!! I plan on offering a lifetime warranty on my mags. |

Just got back from the molders around midnite last nite and picked up the revised mags and all the revisions I had made came out great!!!! Even better than I ever expected!!!
From initial tests the mags are functioning flawlessly by hand cycling!!!!!!!! To say I am extremely happy would be a gross understatement!!!!!!!!! I will be looking into machining these so that they will it into the RFB and LAR-8, that way cosmetically it shouldn't look too bad. Also for those that aren't very mechanically inclined and don't want to or can't do it themselves. Next up I will be making 26 rd FAL mags and I plan on making these to fit the RFB and LAR-8 without modification!!!! |
|
I am guessing 30 to 45 days but don't hold me to that.
If the toture tests go smoothly the only thing left to do is engrave the logo and info on the molds for the magazine. I might do a presale here and on the falfiles once I know the mag is ready for production and I approve it. |

We have begun shipping our mags they work great and there are reviews on a few forums heres a video.
