[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Red dot sight for FAL

I got a DSA STG-58 yesterday and it came with a rail on the top cover. It is my first FAL and I was thinking in adding a red dot scope to it. I was thinking in saving some money and going for the Vortex Sparc, but I don't know if it will handle .308 well. What you all think about it?

I've only shot irons on my FAL, but if I were in your position I would buy the best red-dot sight I could afford. FALs are unusually hard on optics, and have been known to wear out scopes rather quickly. Do some research before you buy.

midway has their aimpoint micros on sale for $299 right now. they should hold up fine. I ordered one and it will live on the FAL until I ifinish this AR.

assuming they have any left. they were selling at a rate of almost 100/hr.

I run an Aimpoint Comp ML2 on my FAL with no problems. You can't co-witness with the iron sights though.

I used an Aimpoint M2 on my FAL for a couple of years and it worked very well.

The Aimpoint now lives on my Middy

I have a SPOT red dot that is 3+ years and thousands of rounds old and is still going strong. It's been on 2 different ARs, 2 AKs, and now my FAL. I think it's a very good red dot for the money. It's not military-grade gear, but makes a very fine range/recreational red dot.

Comes with everything you need to mount it... and it's a solid sight.

Bummer, looks like midway sold out of the micro R-1's, shoulda picked one up when i had the chance...

I'll have to check out the c3 at swfa.

been putting my sparc red dot on different guns, from my ar/vz58 now on my fal kinda like a torture test to see if it will hold up, so far so good
