I’m looking for a new rifle, I already owned a few AK.  It was either a AR-15 or a FAL.  I realized everyone have AR-15, I wanted to stand out from the crowd.  So I choice the FAL to be my new platform.  But I have a few questions.

1)  Is the FAL as nearly reliable as the AK?
2) Is more accurate then a AK?
3) Is it a good “battle rifle”?
4) Who should I buy from? Century, DSA, or Enterprise. My budget is around $800-$1000. And I want one with a 21in barrel.

Thank!

1)  Is the FAL as nearly reliable as the AK?

Yes. Battle proven design in all climates from desert to jungle. Adjustable gas piston system, everything built bullet proof.
2) Is more accurate then a AK?

Definately. Just the design alone ensures that: longer barrel, longer sight radius, flatter shooting cartridge, more rigid receiver.
3) Is it a good “battle rifle”?

Nice use of the correct term. Yes it is a VERY good battle rifle. Considering there are only a few to choose from in the class (FAL, M1A, G3/HK91), opinions vary about which is the best. I listed them in the order that I like them.
4) Who should I buy from? Century, DSA, or Enterprise. My budget is around $800-$1000. And I want one with a 21in barrel.

If you want to buy direct from a major manufacturer, DSA is the best. However, you may get more for your money buying a custom gun on the FALfiles marketplace. Lots of nice rifles sell there. For $1000, you should be able to get a nice setup.

A custom built FAL is a very good value.

They made a very nice FAL in Brazil, mfg by Imbel.

I own a custom built FAL built on an Imbel receiver with an Imbel parts kit and the required US parts
(from DSA) to be legal. The Imbel FAL has a chrome lined barrel which I like.

The FALs built on the Austrian STG58 kits are very good as well. The Austrian STG58 barrels,
although not chrome lined, are some of the finest FAL barrels ever made.

Hang out over on the FALfiles.com and do some research.
